Hail to the Chief
by PamFord Davis The music of Hail to the Chief plays at a president’s inauguration. It is also heard as they enter a room at public events. [Music written by James Sanderson/Lyrics (rarely used) by Albert Gamse/Public Domain] Citizens of America honor their Commander and Chief. Service men and women greet their president with a respectful salute. “Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation, Jesus is Chief Shepherd. Apostle Peter encouraged church elders (pastors)… “Therefore, I urge elders among you, as your fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and one who is also a fellow partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not with greed but with eagerness; nor yet as domineering over those assigned to your care, but by proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory (1 Peter 5:1-4 NASB).” How was the Chief Shepherd treated? ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ “So Pilate then took Jesus and had Him flogged. And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and put a purple cloak on Him; and they repeatedly came up to Him and said, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ and slapped Him in the face again and again (John19:1-3 NASB).” Published articles in Mature Living Magazine, Devotions for the Deaf, The Secret Place, Coosa Journal, Mary Hollingsworth's The One Year Devotional of Joy and Laughter, Jo Krueger's Every Day in God's Word. http://www.pamforddavis.com http://www.faithwriters.com/member-profile.php?
