Legacy Of A Good Father
by Olawale Ogunsola

Death is a crucial end and it will come at the appointed time of the Lord in the life of each individual. No provision for negotiation when the time is ripe. Compliance is the watchword.

It is said that one of the things human beings fear most is death. Whereas it is the entry point to Paradise. There is no Paradise here on the Earth. For anyone to reach there, he must depart this sinful place. Death is the way to go to eternal life. Yet, people don't want to die.

This ought not to be so. Instead of seeing death as an enemy, he should be embraced as a friend and should be prepared for, it daily.

Do you know an amazing thing about this matter? People who do not want to die always think and talk of death for others at any slightest mistake. What an irony of life!
Narrowing it down to fathers' matters, a good father should prepare for what will be in place after him. He can paint a very good picture of what will happen generations after him. If he lives to please the Lord his God and encourage his children, God's heritage, to follow his pattern, he will be happy for doing so.

His children will teach their children also in the way of the Lord. The Psalmist declares,
"78:5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
78:6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
78:7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:" Psalm

Each father should always remember that children are the heritage of God, Psalm 127:3. So, it is important to take care of them and bring them up for the glory of God. He has rewards for him in this world and hereafter.

Is there a father who is setting the pace on the Earth now? Are you one of them?

There have been fathers who were good ones in their lifetime. An example is Father Abraham, the father of faith. The testimony of God about him is a challenge to anyone who wants to be a good father. It runs like this,
"18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him." Genesis.

What a great testimony!

My beloved reader, which type of father are you or do you want to be? You can choose to be a good father or a bad one (God forbid!). It will be to your advantage to be a good father. God will rejoice over you and your children.

Not only that, you will also rejoice when you see the fruits of your labor on the children of God whom He had graciously given you. To crown it all, your children will be happy and be proud of your positive contribution to their lives. They will give you peace of mind for the rest of your life. Your departure will be full of sweet memories because of what you left behind and the hope of meeting after this life in Paradise. Wherever you are having challenges with your children, the Lord will take over and normalize them all in Jesus' mighty name. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
