Best Daily Desire
by Olawale Ogunsola It is a common proverb that "If wishes were horses, beggars will ride." Wishes are common things. Anyone can wish to have anything at any time. There is no controversy about that. Another thing about wishes is that for each person, they are numerous. That is the reason wishes are not in any way achievable. This is because it ends where it is conceived or expressed. Most of the time, it is not solidified with positive action. Conversely, when a wish becomes changed with determination, it becomes a desire after a strong consideration of the wish and the would-be outcome. Every desire with appropriate steps is attainable. Each desire needs to be followed with its desired action. It is important to state here that desires are in different categories because they incorporate many different things at the same time. Like a woman's pregnancy, she can bring forth one, two, or three or more children at the same or different times. Not only that, the sex of each child may be different, yet, they are offsprings from the same pregnancy. So it is with certain desires most especially when it involves spiritual things or God. This was the case with the Songwriter of Israel, King David. He declares, Pay attention to the most valuable desire of the man after the heart of God here. It is alone and a lifetime desire. What do you think will occupy his mind daily? I think the pursuit of the desire. He declares that this desire will be what he will seek. He will chase it with all within his power and might without any reservation. This pregnant desire is to make the house of the Lord his living room or place permanently. He did not desire it for fun, he had his reasons. What are they? 2. A place of speedy replies to his requests. He is sure that, the nearer he is to the house of the Lord, the better for him. He is sure to enjoy not only its proximity but his living in the house of the Lord. 3. He is sure that there are troubles in the world. They are many and beyond his handling. So he needs a place of sure safety which is only available in the house of the Lord. Should he neglect such an opportunity? No! Not a man like David. He is wiser than that. He declares further, 4. "He shall set me up upon a rock" is a sure expectation. He cannot afford to miss this as a wise man. He does not want to be moved, so he chooses to abide in the house of the Lord where He is the rock of ages. 5. Assurance is there that his enemies will bow down before him as his head is lifted above that of his adversaries by the power of the Lord. In his words, With all of the above, benefits, he chooses to show his appreciation to the Lord for His load of benefits made available for him. He is not interested in becoming an ungrateful man. Beloved of Jesus Christ, do you have the same desire as King David? He is a very good pattern to follow in this regard. Resolve to abide in the house of the Lord forever and you will not regret it. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
