Spread Positivity: Send a Thank You to First Responders!
by Tonja Taylor 16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.--I Thessalonians 5:16-18, Berean Standard Bible I was lying in bed about 6:45 this morning, when I heard a transformer blow. Not good, in 105-degree weather! I immediately started speaking the Word, and praising the LORD--declaring that "There is always light in Goshen; and this is Goshen!" This is a phrase the LORD has taught me to use, because it is the Truth. We have Heaven on earth every day. We are the blessed of the LORD. Of course, I also reported the outage to the company. Also, having worked years ago for the electric company, I knew it could take longer to have power restored, if a transformer had to be replaced. I released the angels to help the service crew get the power restored very quickly, not just for our sakes, but for those especially who might be on oxygen or have other medical needs, etc. I opened the curtains and let in the light, and just chose to be positive. I also claimed my tither's rights (as in, nothing's going to spoil in the fridge, and I'll be able to get done today what needs to be done, etc.). I gathered several Scriptures to rehearse (You can't break a book; a hard copy writing never 'goes out'!), and just chose to stay in peace. I chose to be thankful that we'd had a good night's sleep, in peace, safety, and comfort of good A/C. I chose to be thankful that it happened in the daylight, when the air was still decently cool, compared to afternoon temperatures. A few minutes later, I saw a service truck roll down the road, and rejoiced! Then, within another 20 minutes or less, the power came back on. I was so thankful, that I decided to write a thank you note! Then, I also remembered that, a couple months earlier, I had been amazed and blessed at how, when I reported a metal building smoking across the street from me, that a fire truck showed up within three minutes--and two more followed immediately after! They put out the fire that others in the neighborhood seemed to be ignoring, for some reason (I suppose because it wasn't "their responsibility"??), and where it looked like the owners were not home or deeply asleep). As I watched through the fence in my backyard, I felt so protected and blessed--and thought of the Scripture in Isaiah 65:24 (Berean Standard Bible): Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear. Hallelujah! Our darling Daddy God, Abba Father, is ever near, and attentive to our voice. He constantly regards us, His precious kiddos, and sends well-timed help to us, at every stage of life! I have surprised many people through the years, and made many lasting friends and acquaintances, just by sending a simple, handwritten thank-you note! I am so thankful my dear parents taught me to be thankful, and to send notes and letters (and later, emails and texts) to prove it, not to mention other gifts as the LORD leads, but almost always, it is our words that means the most to people! Why don't you ask the LORD who you could thank today by sending a thank-you note to first responders (Dont' forget the policemen and women, and EMTs, doctors and nurses, etc.)? You can engage your kids in the act, and teach them this priceless life lesson! …24 And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.--Hebrews 10:24, Berean Standard Bible Through books, courses, presentations, service, prayer, worship, and more, Tonja and her husband live to exalt God.
