When You Are Weak, Do These!
by Tonja Taylor 1 Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.…--Colossians 3:1--3, Berean Standard Bible Our true strength is not physical, but spiritual first, then emotional. This morning, and even in the middle of the night, I was feeling weak, and the enemy was speaking lies of discouragement to me. He is so tormented, and all he can do is try to torment us, the people of God, but when we know that we have received Christ Jesus, and that His blood covers us, we can plead that blood over our minds, and remember that we are safe in Christ; that God works all things together for our best and His glory--and that He's gotten us this far, and He is faithful to complete that which He has started. Hallelujah! 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.--Psalm 147:5, Berean Standard Bible Praise the LORD, He has been teaching me how to recognize when the enemy tries to make me weak, and how to get strong in the LORD again. There are more ways than these to do that, but these are the main ones I know of that help me and most Believers in Christ: (1) Read and speak the Word of God. (2) Memorize the Word by meditating (thinking about it, reading it, speaking it over and over. That's what "meditation" is, whether it's about the Word of God or something else.) it, and thus hiding it in your heart, so the Holy Spirit, Who is the Spirit of Truth, can bring it up to your mind when you need it to speak it as the Sword of the Spirit, to cut the devil's lies down. The Word is our Shield of Faith to raise over ourselves (and over our loved ones!), to resist those lies ("fiery darts") that come. (3) Put Bible-based worship music on to play in your home and car, and sing along! (4) Put Bible-based preaching and teaching on your phone and computer and TV, and let it play in the background, even 24/7. The atmosphere of your home is very important! (5) Ask the LORD to show you if there are relationships in your life which are toxic to you, or at least diluting/stealing from the relationship you have with God, then be ready to repent about them, and give them up. He will give you strength, grace, and wisdom to do so. Ask Him to guide you to relationships that will sharpen you in the things of the Spirit of God. He will! (6) Ask the LORD if there are activities you are doing that are displeasing to Him, then ask Him to help you repent about them, and let Him help you get stop them. He is very patient, and only wants to help us have a more full life. If He shows us something to give up, He will replace it with something much more satisfying! (7) Ask the LORD if there are objects in your house that offend Him, then repent to Him, and thank Him for His mercy. It is surprising to me things that I thought were neat, that the LORD, Who is holy, revealed to me had demonic junk attached to them! (Once, I had nightmares all week, and the LORD revealed to me that a real sword a person had given me had a demon attached to it, so I immediately got rid of the sword. I didn't give it away, I destroyed it, for I didn't want anyone else to suffer from it. Another time, I had a really cool picture a close relative drew me, and I had put it behind another picture. The LORD revealed that to me---after me praying in the Spirit for 30 minutes while I praised the LORD to loud worship music--and when I repented for it and tore it to bits, I felt a demonic force get off of me and leave forever! God is faithful and He is our Freedom!) (8) Every morning when you wake, plead the Blood of Jesus over every dimension of your life; around your spirit, soul (mind, will, emotions), body, marriage, finances, God-ordained relationships, material possessions, job, business, ministry, path, dreams, skills, talents, etc.! He cares about all of it! (9) Thank the LORD for all the good things in your life, 24/7. When we are thankful, we cannot be unthankful. When we are happy, thinking on good things, we can't be thinking about negatives! (10) Talk to the LORD out loud, and say things like, "I love You, Daddy God. I know You are here with me, through Jesus in my heart, even though I don't feel like You are. But You have promised to never leave me, and You are always watching over me by Your Spirit and Your holy angels. Please comfort me, and help me focus more on You. Thank You!" (11) Start reminding yourself out loud just a few things the LORD has done for you; how He rescued you from hidden traps, from danger; how He provided for you; how He made things much smoother for you than they could have been; how He healed you from sicknesses; how He has given you people that love and help you, a job, a home, education, etc.! (12) Write down what you're thankful for every day, and review it in hard times! My husband and I do this, and it's great! God will help us do what we need to do. He is faithful forever! …19 Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.” 20 A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use. 21 So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.…--2 Timothy 2:19-21, Berean Standard Bible The LORD tells us to keep our minds on good things, and we have to choose to do that. We have to learn to do that. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.--Philippians 4:8, ESV It was never supposed to be a struggle, but when Adam and Eve betrayed God and listened to the devil in the Garden of Eden, everything became a struggle, when God had intended for all people to have a Heavenly life on earth, communing with Him, and having pleasant, easy work. To be fair, I may have done the same thing Eve did, for I have certainly been deceived and missed God's best for me, in the past. He is helping me to tune in to His Spirit, get in alignment, and enjoy the best He has intended for me since before the world began. It's the same for you! We can have "Heaven on earth" as much as possible, when we align with the wonderful Plan of our dear Daddy God, Jehovah, Elohim, Who created and sustains us, and Who has designed the Master Plan that is a perfect fit for us. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.--Ephesians 2:10, Berean Standard Bible Hallelujah! How good and awesome is our God, the only true God, the LORD Jesus Christ, Who sacrificed Himself for us on the cross over 2,000 years ago, then rose again after three days to help us understand and receive all the benefits of His death and resurrection! 8 But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!…--Romans 5:8-9, Berean Standard Bible Remember--faith is not a feeling. He commands us to rest in Him, and that means, ultimately, to trust in Him. It involves our soul (mind, will, emotions). We take authority over our souls in the name of Jesus, and like King David said, we command our souls to be at peace! Let him search for peace (harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts) and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!]--I Peter 3:11, AMPC …6 The LORD preserves the simplehearted; I was helpless, and He saved me. 7 Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. 8 For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.…--Psalm 116:6-8, Berean Standard Bible We are weak, but He is strong!
