WHO AM I
by Lupie Riley
Freelance writer Lupie Riley Thought: God calls us by name. David looked up into the night skies and saw the work of God’s hands—the moon, the stars and declared…” I cannot understand how you can bother with mere puny man, to pay attention to him?” Now put yourself in David’s place and ask the same question, “who am I that you should be mindful of me?” When we realize the great love our Creator God has for us in redeeming our soul from sin, it makes us very insignificant when put it in the perspective of the whole world. We become like a minuscule spot on planet Earth. Because of this deep love God has for us, he was “mindful” of our sinful condition and became like us to restore that relationship with him through his bodily sacrifice on the cross. Scripture goes on to say, “And yet you have made him (you and me) a little lower than the angels (in our carnal nature) and placed a crown of glory and honor upon his head (psalms 8:4-6).” Humankind was to have dominion over all God had created. How can we develop a life of mindfulness?
Our Creator God is mindful of our fleshly state and that is why he has given us His Spirit when we confess him as our Savior. He is the power within that will help us to resist temptations to sin. WHO ARE YOU? When you have Christ Jesus in your life you are one of his children. “But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them (John 1:12).” We are a prince or princess to the King with a royal standing. The Christian group, Casting Crowns, has a song out called “Who am I.” Starting lyrics: Who am I, that the Lord of all earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt? Who am I, that the bright and morning star Would choose to light the way For my ever-wandering heart? Prayer: Father God, who am I that you should be mindful of me. Your love surpasses all meaning of the word. Thank you for the restoration, Jesus provided for me through his sacrifice on the cross. I can now address you as Abba, Father as one of your children. Amen Verse: Eph. 3:17,18,19 “May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should , how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, thought it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so, at last you will be filled up with God himself.”
