Is Grief Attached to Your Finances?
by Tonja Taylor

[The Lord God says] And the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing to Zion; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and  sorrow and sighing shall flee away.--Isaiah 51:11, AMPC

This morning, I was glad that a tutoring company for which I work deposited my once-a-month payment.

However, after talking with my husband, and experiencing negative feelings (We both were.), I realized with the help of the LORD that there was a spirit of grief attached to our finances!

I now understood why I used to hate to go shopping--cause there was much grief, regret, uncertainty, fear, etc.--none of it from God!

Some experts say that there are more divorces over money than over sexual immorality, and I believe it!

I also believe that the biggest problem is that most Christians don't understand or believe the promises of the blood Covenant we have with God, through Jesus Christ. Just like with my husband and myself, although we'd started to repent, and had learned and put into practice God's financial principles the past several years, it had been a process of learning to wash our souls (minds, wills, emotions) with the Living Water of the Word, to be clean from the putrid mud of deception and the worldly way of thinking about finances.

Most likely, this evil spirit entered in to both of my sides of the family long ago--perhaps generations ago---and at least on the mother's side of my husband. These relatives had had a poverty spirit since we'd known them.

A "poverty spirit" means that, no matter how much money or material possessions one has, it is never enough; one is never satisfied, and always looking on the negative side of things, except for brief times of happiness (which is different than true joy), when there is plenty of money, etc.

I was surprised at my husband's attitude, and at thoughts I was having, and the dear, all-knowing Holy Spirit helped me recognize that a spirit of grief was attached to our financial life!

This wrongful spirit had caused heaviness, much strife, and more, and had worked with fear, discouragement, and more, to weary us; to make us doubt and not believe the Word of God!

My husband and I were both born-again Christians, and also baptized in the Holy Spirit. We daily chose to meditate on the Word of God, and in fact, had been spending all week listening to excellent preaching and teaching of the Word, five times a day, in a regional Believer's convention!

It did not take long for me to take authority over the wrongful spirit--grief, and fear, and those attached to these--in the Name of Jesus (Who defeated them and all wrong things at the cross!).  I repented of allowing these things, and asked the LORD to forgive me, and us.

I started to praise and thank the LORD that He has been so good to us, and to claim all our tither's rights. I thanked Him that He gives seed (including finances, although it's more than that; things and services to give to others) to us sowers, and bread for food, and that He is multiplying our good seed sown, and enlargning the harvest of our righteousness; that we are generous on every occasion, which brings great praise and thanksgiving to Him, amen!

And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity].--2 Corinthians 9:10, AMPC

The truth is, that God is doing great things, and overturning the lies of the enemy, and restoring to us all the years that have been stolen!! Hallelujah!

His Spirit of Truth is with us always, and always leads us into the full truth, as we want to hear it (and we can ask Him to help us want the full truth!).

If you've had challenges with such, then you can pray this simple prayer (as long as you are born again. If you're not, first ask the LORD to forgive you of all your sins, and for Jesus Christ the Messiah to come into your heart and be your Savior and LORD!) and get a breakthrough in your attitude about finances.

It's usually not the finances that are the problem; it's our attitudes--our heart conditions--about them!

Pray this:

LORD Jesus, I thank You that You love me so much You died for me, and rose again to rescue me from the enemy and give me abundant life (John 10:10)! Thank You! I confess that there have been wrong attitudes in my heart and life about finances. You are the true Source of every good thing, and I praise and thank You for all the good in my life!

Right now, in the Name of Jesus, I repent where I have not handled the money and other resources You have given me properly. I ask You to forgive me of this and all the other ways I've missed the mark.

Right now, in the Name of Jesus, I repent of and renounce every agreement I have made with the enemy concerning finances!

I ask You, LORD, to teach me Your ways about finances, and give me the courage and joy to obey You. You know all things, You love me more than I could understand, and You have a wonderful Plan for my life, which includes abundance!

I receive Your forgiveness and help and cleansing and wisdom, in Your holy Name, amen!

Halellujah, now expect the LORD to help you, change things that He shows you to change, and give Him the thanks and praise. He is faithhful, and always causes you to triumph in every situation! Amen and Amen!
