Jesus in 1 Corinthians 13
by Tonja Taylor

He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.--I John 4:8, AMPC

God is Love! Hallelujah!

And (to start a sentence with a conjunction; please don't tell my English students!) during the wee hours of this morning, the dear LORD Who is Love conveyed this to me: I Corinthians 13:4-8, the famous "Love chapter" is not just for us to personalize and proclaim over ourselves for what we should do, but what the LORD God Who is Love does for us!

)However, I believe that professing I Corinthians over ourselves--personalized, by putting our names into the place of "Love," i.e., "I am patient; I am kind..."-- very often is an excellent idea, for the more we sow the Word into ourselves, the more incorruptible seed we are planting, that can only bear much excellent fruit   So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.--Isaiah 55:11, AMPC.  Hallelujah!)

So, let us remember that God is Love, and perhaps you'll want to do this with me: Put the Name of Jesus, our dear, victorious LORD and King--Who is in us and with us and on our side forever, when we have received what His blood did for us on the cross over 2,000 years ago, and as we stay close to Him--in the place of Love, and read it out loud to yourself very often, and thank Him for it!

Jesus is the supreme Example of our dear Father God, Who created mankind because He wanted a big royal Family; He created us for relationship with Him!

I and the Father are One.--John 10:30, AMPC

Here is the Amplified Classic Version, where I have inserted the supreme name of Jesus:

4  Jesus endures long and is patient and kind; Jesus never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display Himself haughtily.

5  Jesus is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); He is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Jesus (God’s love in us) does not insist on His own rights or His own way, for He  is not self-seeking; He is not touchy or fretful or resentful; He takes no account of the evil done to Him [He pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

6 Jesus does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

Jesus bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, His hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and endures everything [without weakening].

Jesus never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

So there you go.

Yes, please continue to insert your name in these verses and declare that you are these things (and I'm talking to myself!), but please consider that, ultimately, Jesus is all these things--and that's how He feels about and acts and responds to you!

Hallelujah, JESUS Who is Love is The Awesome God we serve! Let us thank Him and continue to allow Him to live His Zoe Life through us!

(Our LORD and King Jesus said) "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."--John 10:10, AMPC
