OUTLINED STUDY ON PERFECTION
by linzy bruno

God Is The Author of Perfection and Shares His Perfection With Us:

Psalm 18:32

Jesus Was Perfect And IS Perfect And Is Our Example Of Perfection:

Hebrews 2:10, 4:15, 5:9, Isaiah 53:9, 1Peter 1:19 & 7:28 & John 19:4

We Are Made Perfect In Him & Our Love For Him:

Colossians 2:10 & 3:14, 1Corinthians 2:6,

 1John 2:5 & 1John 4:12

The Word of God Leads Us To Perfection:

2Timothy 3:16-17, Exclusivity of Scripture & power therein

Matthew 5:48, The Call of Christ

James 2:22, Good works are essential to perfection

James 1:25, Application of the Word is essential to perfection

James 3:2 Control of the tongue essential to perfection

James 1:4, Patience leads to perfection

Colossians 3:14 & Matthew 19:21, Charity is essential to perfection

People God Called Perfect:

Genesis 6:8-9—Noah

Job—Job 1:1

Abram--Genesis 17:1

Zacharias and Elizabeth--Luke 1:6

Asa—1Kings 15:14

David—1Kings 11:4 & 1Kings 11:6

Nathanael—John 1:47

Pressing Onward Toward Perfection; It’s Part Of The Journey:

Ephesians 4:13, 1Peter 5:10, 2Corinthians 7:1, Proverbs 4:18 & Philippians 3:12

But as Paul teaches, WE NEED NOT SEE OURSELVES AS PERFECT, AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH OUR SENSE OF HUMILITY: Philippians 3:12 (If we let it go to our heads, we make it all about ourselves, which puts our backs before Christ)

Perfection in and of ourselves is utterly unattainable:

Psalm 119:96

Genesis 17:1 The Hebrew word rendered "blameless" (NKJV) or "perfect" (KJV) in Genesis 17:1 means "entire, complete, full, without blemish." The Greek word found in Matthew 5:48 translated "perfect" means "finished, complete, having reached its end," and implies being fully grown or mature.
