Thought:  During my two week vacation in Virginia with family, we stayed two days in a beautiful lodge in the mountains.  After traveling on a dirt road for a long time we finally came upon our lodging for the night.  It was located in a very remote area.  That night we had a tornado warning and lost power during a powerful storm, sending us into a thick darkness because there were no outside  lights.  Feeling around in the darkness we finally found cell phones and flashlights, our only light source.  Eventually, the generator kicked in and we had power again.  It reminded me of the deep darkness people live in without the light of Christ in their lives wandering around with no hope or purpose.  

God’s word has a lot to say about the light of Jesus.  Thesaurus says there are over 433 references of light in the scriptures.  The book of John alone has numerous verses containing to light along with 17 equating Jesus to the great I AM in chapt. 8.  I would encourage you to look these verses up for yourself and be blessed. 

John 1:1-9  Jesus is the true light that can never be extinguished.  (paraphrased)

John 3:19-21  People living in sin stayed away from Jesus light.

John chapt. 8  The light of the world is the great I AM.

John 12:35-36  Make use of the light while there is still time.

John 12:46  Jesus as a light in a dark world.  All who put their trust in Him no longer wander in darkness.

Math. 5:13-16  You are the worlds light, don’t hide it.

Luke 11:33-36  Your eyes light up your inward being.

Psalms 27:1  The Lord is light and salvation, not to fear.

Psalms 89:15-18  Walk in the light of His presence.

Are you letting your Jesus light shine through?

Prayer:  Father God, help me to let your light shine through my life so that others can be drawn to you for Salvation.  Amen

Verse:  Math. 5:14-16 “You are the worlds light, a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see.  Don’t hide your light!  Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your Heavenly Father.”
