Just Start!
by Tonja Taylor Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”—Joshua 1:9, AMPC OK, sometimes "waiting on God" is an excuse. It is really procrastination, meaning fear of failure--or even success! Ask me how I know! But fear, doubt, and discouragement are never from God. "What you can do, or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it..." (unknown author) This is a motto that inspired me, and which I remembered yesterday. However--as with all good sayings or mottos or "proverbs" which any leader claims--God (the Eternal, pre-existing, all-powerful, all-wise One) said it first! So, if you're like me, you've wanted (and tried) to do many things at once, then felt overwhelmed, or unsuccessful, or both! As women, we do usually have to do many things at once, and that's actually part of Zoe (John 10:10) life to me. We are created and blessed by God to be active, fruitful, positively productive people--most of all, to advance the Kingdom of God (which is why we are on the planet!). When we are in the perfect will of God (Ephesians 2:10), things usually flow the smoothest; are the most prosperous; are the easiest to accomplish; and are the most satisfying; as well as--by far the most important--the most influential for the LORD. Often, it can be a challenge to discover the perfect will, but thank goodness the LORD loves us so much, He guides and helps and shields us even when we aren't (Ask me how I know!), when our hearts are right toward Him, to please Him, and help others know Him! He is faithful to forgive and guide us into right paths, when we humble ourselves and ask Him for help and guidance! He waits to be gracious to us, HALLELUJAH!! 18 And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!--Isaiah 30:18, AMPC He is the good, good Father! So I encourage you today, whatever your dreams are, take a step. It doesn't have to be a big one! Ask the LORD your Father (providing, or course, that you have received Christ Jesus into your heart as your Savior and LORD, for the blood He shed on the cross at Calvary to have forgiven and cleansed you of all your sins) to show you the next step to take, to set in motion His perfect Plan for your life. He will! Spend time with Him in prayer--even if your "alone" time is scarce--and remember, you can pray in your heart and even out loud while doing chores, driving, etc.! Worship Him. Thank Him. Read and listen to His Word. Go to a Bible (the whole thing!)-believing church. The answers will come! And, glory to God, even when we miss it, He'll help us, cause He knows we are not trying to mess up our lives or any others! He is faithful! Take a step, and He will help you. Then, you can say, "I answered them, The God of heaven will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you (enemy) have no portion or right or memorial in Jerusalem.--Nehemiah 2:20, AMPC, emphasis (enemy) mine Through books, courses, presentations, service, prayer, worship, and more, Tonja and her husband live to exalt God.
