How to Have More of God - Part 2
by Tonja Taylor He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. -- I John 4:8, AMPC Every true Believer wants more of God. Once we are born again by our faith in the blood of Jesus shed for us on the cross, the LORD is with us always (HALLELUJAH!). Here are tips on how to cultivate and enjoy His loving, tangible Presence--by loving on God, and loving others (Lev. 19:18)! (1) Worship the LORD. There are many ways to worship, and various Hebrew words for different types of worship. However, it's all about the heart--where you are truly focused on the LORD, and thankful for His goodness, mercy, faithfulness, and grace (not to mention all the rest of His excellent attributes!). The LORD accepts people from every race and culture, when their heart truly honors them. After all, the Covenant was originally for the Jewish people, but the LORD opened it up to all the rest of us! Hallelujah! Some people (like me) are very demonstrative in their worship. I dance in the Spirit, do sign language (even at home, not just in church! It's another way I worship and love on my darling Daddy God, my awesome LORD Jesus, and the sweet, helpful Holy Spirit.), shout often in joy, lift and wave and clap my hands, etc. Not everyone is like this, and until I learned to worship deeply and radically, neither was I! Worship can be very quiet; even silence. It can be bowing at the altar, or in one's home. It can be speaking the Word of God in reverence and thanksgiving--whether loudly or softly. Worship can be just thanking God, and rejoicing in Him, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever! One apostle stated that "teaching (the Word) is worship." Some have stated that giving financially and serving are worship. For me, writing is a form of my worship; it is both teaching and giving, for my intent is to help others know the goodness and beauty and faithfulness of God, and how necessary and accessible He is to the sincere seeker. So "worship" is many things, and the Father is seeking those who will worship Him genuinely, as the Word states in John 4:23 (AMPC): A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. (2) Pray to the LORD. True prayer is talking with God--as Father, as Friend, and as Judge. We don't pray to Jesus or the Holy Spirit (although they are always ready to help us, and we can ask them for help. Don't try to figure this out with your mind--you can't!). No, as Jesus instructed His disciples, we pray to the Father, through the Holy Spirit, in the Name of Jesus. The LORD tells us that, even if our hearts condemn us (and try to make us think--with the enemy's help, of course--that God does not want to hear from us, which is a lie, as long as we're coming before Him with honor and respect and not being arrogant or just complaining, etc.), God is greater than our hearts. He tells us to pour out our hearts to Him. He is truly the only Person Who really understands everything, for no other person can, and we should not expect them to. Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!--Psalm 62:8, AMPC Our hope and expectation come (only!) from the LORD. He is the only One Who will never disappoint (Psalm 25:2). Great is His faithfulness! O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.--Psalm 25:2, AMPC (3) Speak His Word out loud. Ask the LORD to show you specific Scriptures for yourself, your family, and other loved ones, that He knows are what needs to be spoken over them. The Word of God spoken out loud sends soundwaves into the spirit realm, and the eternal Word of God goes on forever! His Word shapes the lives of those over which it is spoken. Hallelujah! (4) Serve; help with excellence--your spouse; your children; other loved ones; your church family; your neighbors; your boss, etc. Serving others is so rewarding, and we are created for partnership. There is power in numbers of people being in unity, especially in serving the LORD of Heaven and earth! And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.--Matthew 25:40, AMPC (5) Be baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Hallelujah, this is an empowerment to experience God more deeply and serve others! Only true Believers who have received Christ as Savior and LORD can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:15-20). Even Jesus, before He started ministering, needed this anointing, this empowerment. 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him. 14 But John protested strenuously, having in mind to prevent Him, saying, It is I who have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me? 15 But Jesus replied to him, Permit it just now; for this is the fitting way for [both of] us to fulfill all righteousness [that is, to perform completely whatever is right]. Then he permitted Him. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he [John] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. 17 And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is My Son, My Beloved, in Whom I delight! --Mark 3:13-17, AMPC I'm so glad that the LORD exposed the wrong theology that had lied to me for a couple decades about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Once I understood it was truly of God, and told the LORD I wanted all of Him I could get, I had a couple pray with me about it, and the LORD answered me and baptized me in this beautiful, sublime, superb flow of His Living Water (the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God), with such peace and joy! I started speaking in the most lovely unknown words I'd ever heard come from my mouth! My mind could not understand them, but I knew I was--and still do!--speaking the languge of Heaven! Hallelujah! "Tongues" (Acts 2) can include real languages that exist today; that are ancient and "lost"; and other speech that only God and the holy angels can understand. Hallelujah! One of the coolest things about the baptism of the Holy Spirit is that--get this!--the devil cannot understand it, and that frustrates the enemy so much! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Our God is the coolest! He gives us this secret language to speak to Him with; it's "secret code" that can never be cracked by the defeated foe, but is the perfect prayer of God; the perfect divine language which can only be understood by God and the holy angels! Glory! So, it is a joy and a rest--and exciting! When we pray in the Spirit, the LORD helps us align our minds with Him, and He can work healing in our lives, and puts the holy angels to work in our lives and others', and more. He can also help us to understand with our minds--our understanding--anything we need to know--as we pray (or afterwards) with the Spirit. Hallelujah! We serve The Awesome God!!! So these five things--worship; prayer; speak the Word out loud; serving/helping; being baptized in the Holy Spirit--will definitely help you have more of God--which really means that you can have (much!) more of God!
