When calamity crashes into our now, we are amply provided Divine Supply
by Lorraine Taylor It is unpredictable when but it is certain each one of us will undergo, on some level, suffering, sorrow, difficulties, heartache, loss, trials, storms, and situations that cause us to feel pressured and stretched beyond human ability. In harsh times, one can sense total helplessness and an isolated aloneness trying to find the way forward as unexpected occurrences interrupt everyday normal patterns. On an emotional level, one might feel as though he or she is caught in a whirlwind of apocalyptic proportions, reeling as though the ground of constancy has been ripped away and one is suddenly wobbling with assorted questioning and winded in doubt, wondering if God is hearing and seeing the plighted circumstances, we find ourselves facing. There may be times we do not even sense or feel the presence of our Father, but we don’t want to mistake those times for his absence. What we can do in troubling seasons is turn to scriptures, reminding ourselves Father will always fulfill his promises, and during a crisis, often all we can do is place trusted confidence in his steady and constant faithfulness. ‘It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’ Deuteronomy 31:8 (NRSV) In harsh events, we need to take hold of our thoughts and replace the fear and anxiety of our emotional reactions with truths written in the pages of scriptures that guarantee the Father’s promises are extended and offered to each man, woman, and child. ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ Psalm 46:1 (NSRV) The above scripture offers candor and legitimacy that in our need, God has already amply and freely provided his help and himself as a place of refuge and strength. All we have to do is come to him in our weariness, in our heavy-weighted emotions, and lay down the burdensome trial and allow the holy spirit entrance in joining with us in the dark shadows of our misery. Father utilizes the raw material of the distress, grief, and aguish realized in tough phases to transform our thoughts and hearts nearer to the center of Father’s love. Affliction is the manure God utilizes to fertilize and cultivate his life in ours to radically alter and transform human tendencies into unmeasurable supernatural divine possibilities. In our vulnerabilities, the God-potential is living inside the human being and this can be discovered when we surrender to his stunning grace, unfathomable mercy, and authentic passion and care for us as his cherished beloved ones. This life is not always easy and in arduous cycles, we can be aware of the calamity spinning around and in us, but we must recognize the choice needed is to reorient and redirect our focus on the inner quiet and calm of the sacred presence of Father’s spirit-being who resides deeply integrated within the core of our humanness. We can discover the living hope of our Father’s tender devotion in having already amply and adequately provided Grace and gifted every human being with everything required to live godly lifestyles during the bad stuff that happens in this world and in this life. “His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his glory and goodness. Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature.” 2 Peter 1:3-6 (NSRV)
Prayer: Father, refresh the tired, renew the exhausted and revive those weary from the bad stuff happening in this world and in their lives. Restore the vibrant energy and loose the fire of your spirit igniting a renewed faith.
