WHAT DOES 2022 HOLD FOR AMERICA
by Lupie Riley
Freelance writer Lupie Riley Thought: No one has an answer to that question. It’s possible it could be a repeat of 2021. World events are very unpredictable at this time in the history of our nation. As a believer, who should we be putting our trust in? It can’t be our current leader or even a different one. As we look back on the tumultuous changes that have taken place, we could be that end time generation the Bible speaks about. Many of todays top theologians and those behind the pulpits seem to avoid the prophecies that are found in Revelations. The word, by itself, tells us this is a book of revealing what’s going to happen in these latter days as we draw close to the end of this age of grace. Where should our standing be with the Lord? What idols do we have to surrender to His purpose and plan for our lives if we are living in the end times? Are we immersed in this world or the world to come? A huge lesson came out of the recent, Colorado fires. Victims found that all they had strived for and personal items they treasured, were now in a heap of ashes. It also tells us these things are only temporary. When our time comes, we leave this world empty handed. As God’s children our focus should be in getting that message of hope out to those who are fearful and anxious without purpose. God has promised believers a bright future that is eternal, never ending in a place He has prepared for us. He’s coming again not only to take his children out before judgement falls upon the Earth but to return in His glorified body as King of Kings. This promise should keep our hearts quiet and glad, with a great expectation for that day to come. “God has not given us a Spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.” As we keep our eyes on Jesus and not on what’s happening in the world around us, we will experience the peace that only he can give no matter what the circumstance. The apostle Paul said “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power (Phill 4:12,13).” Prayer: Father God, you are the source of peace in these trying times. Calm my spirit as I face the days ahead and help me to keep my eyes on Jesus. Amen Verse: II Chron. 7:14 “Then if my people will humble themselves and pray and search for me and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from Heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” Married 58 years, four children, nine grandchildren and three greats.
