Sitting Down to Dinner with Jesus
by Dudley Anderson GodTracker 832 Psalm 23:5 Karen and I love having folks around for a meal. She’s a great cook and loves to lavish our guests with the best of her delectable delights. Eating together is a very intimate activity. People often, hold a special dinner to honour others or to celebrate a special event. Jesus told a story one day. He described how two brothers had grown up in a caring home. One brother, however, fled the nest in search of fame and fortune. Sadly, things didn’t work out quite as he’d hoped and he became destitute. He ended up eating scraps of food fed to pigs. When he came to his senses he returned to his father’s house. When his father saw him coming, he ran to meet his son. Then he called for a feast of honour to be prepared to honour his son who was once lost but now was found. Today Jesus is saying to you, “I stand at your door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and join you for dinner.” Lord Almighty wants to sit down to a meal with you and enjoy your company. He is calling out to you to join him in intimate fellowship. Jesus desires to share his heart with you and hear all about your life. Father longs to throw a banquet on your behalf; to prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. So, simply open that door today and invite him in.
DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY “Dear Father, I am sorry for deserting your purposes for my life. Please forgive me for running out on you in search of alternative living. I hear your voice, Jesus. I hear you knocking on the door of my heart. I open that door, now, and welcome you in to sup with me. Please accept my hospitality. I give my life to you and ask you to reign in me as you prepare a table for me in the presence of the enemy. Amen.”
