Seeking Godly Offspring

Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,--Matthew 28:19, AMPC

WANTED: Disciples

Until a few days ago, the phrase, “seeking godly offspring,” from (Malachi 2:15) disturbed me. As a 30s-something woman who’d been divorced 4 years, I ached deep within to find my soulmate and serve God with all that was in me. But I feared that if I did marry, the enemy would destroy the relationship.

At the same time, I found that verse useful for deterring would-be fiancés, especially when I combined it with other verses such as, “Those who marry will have trouble” and “(if single) seek not to be married," etc. Others I used against marrying again were, "but be content with such as you have, for I have said I will never leave you nor forsake you”.

After all, I was, thanks to God’s blessing, serving God, supporting myself and Victoria, staying healthy, working in children’s ministries, enjoying every minute I had with my daughter--all without a man--living in a rent home with a landlord to do the repairs, etc.

Why would I need a man?

The last couple of serious relationships I’d had had ended mainly because the men I was dating insisted that they wanted children when I didn’t. So I released them to go find someone “younger, who is EAGER to have children!”.

Meanwhile, I decided that there was and would be only ONE Immaculate Conception, and that as long as I stayed away from males, there was no chance of me ever having another child.

I was quite content, actually, as the Lord tells us to be. In my opinion, I had finally found true and lasting peace thanks to God’s miraculous deliverance of my spirit and soul from oppression and depression.

Then, one day when I thought again of how God brings people together because “He is seeking godly offspring,” the Holy Spirit showed me that the verse didn’t necessarily mean babies, it meant disciples!

That changed everything!

I felt a renewed sense of joy, and hope that God would allow me to enjoy a marriage that glorified Him in every way; that He would bring me and the one He had for me together to PRODUCE DISCIPLES OF JESUS!!

When the director of the local pregnancy center asked me to teach a Bible study for the expectant women who were enrolled there for counseling, I was excited and humbled!! I knew that I couldn’t do it ,for I can do nothing myself, but that CHRIST IN ME could do all things!! He gave me many many things to write and teach to disciple these women, who all said they were believers.

Soon I would be a "mother" not only to my daughter, but spiritually to these precious ones as well--for the LORD was, indeed, "seeking godly offspring"!

(Fast forward to 2021: The LORD has continued to teach me His ways, and continued to heal me and deliver me from past hurts, and restore to me the understanding of His love--all the while ministering through me to others through the years! I am "living proof," as many say, that the only good in me is HIM! He's been helping me decrease and Himself increase, so that, praise Him, many more have been made "godly offspring," since this original writing!" Halleujah!

Don't give up--if you know you are a Believer in the LORD Jesus Christ, but you've been floundering around, wondering what your role is, what your calling is, what you're supposed to do on the planet for Him, never fear; He will help you understand!

First, remember you are His "godly offspring"--His child--and He loves you so much more than you can understand, and He is forever faithful. He will never leave you helpless, no matter how you feel!  He is the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23, Psalm 25, Ephesians 2:10), and He will show you The Way!)

15 And did not God make [you and your wife] one [flesh]? Did not One make you and preserve your spirit alive? And why [did God make you two] one? Because He sought a godly offspring [from your union]. Therefore take heed to yourselves, and let no one deal treacherously and be faithless to the wife of his youth.--Malachi 2:15, AMPC
