The Preacher Didn't Do Anything--But God Did!
by Tonja Taylor

One man, now over 50, says he went down as a child to receive Christ, but "the preacher didn't do anything."  The preacher may have though the boy was too young to receive Christ, but God is always ready to receive all who come to Him!

I was not aware of this till a couple of decades ago--about three decades after this event occurred. The man who'd been a boy in church--convicted and eager to receive Christ--had been, from what it sounded like, "too young" to understand being born again.

Most of the time, our thinking has been backwards, for it is those freshest from the LORD--the babies, the little children--who have the precious totally trusting faith that God so loves; the "child-like" faith that God requires of every human, no matter the age, social status, or race, to come to Him and receive new life through believing in Jesus Christ.

15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."--Luke 18:15-17, NIV

The man has stated to me that he doesn't believe in God, and that--when I asked him years ago--he's "already been 'born again' into a fraternity in college.'

That is not correct. There is only one true rebirth; one true time of being born again, and that is in one's spirit, when one truly believes in one's heart in the LORD Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD, and then confesses out of one's mouth that Jesus is LORD.

The man had believed in his heart, or he never would have gone to the preacher. The preacher must not have let him confess out of his mouth.

That has bothered me for a few decades, and I forgive that preacher, who surely thoughe he was doing good. It's really the devil, the deceiver and destroyer and hinderer, who interferes in such. Anyway, I've claimed that man's life for the Kingdom of God, and have prayed for him through the years, that he be drawn much closer to God.

I know my God is faithful, and I know that I pray in His will every time I speak of this man and proclaim his Salvation and love for Christ and dedication to Him, I know the angels and Spirit of God are working! Even when I'm not speaking it actively, God is working! He never slumbers nor sleeps, hallelujah, and is always about His business!

I know that, any day now, I'll receive the Good News that this man has turned his heart to the LORD and will serve him with all he has (and he is well off, very talented, very sucessful, and has a lot to offer the Kingdom!), all the days of his long, strong, Zoe life!

God makes promises in the Bible about bringing our loved ones back to Him. Find them and claim them. He will show you and help you, and keep you standing in faith, and, when the time is right, as God influences others' will, you can see the Glory of God in their lives. So don't give up. Keep on believing, for God honors faith!

Praise and thank Him for what is already done, even if you don't see it yet, for that's what FAITH is--we walk by FAITH and keep believing, even when it doesn't LOOK like anything is happening. But things are always moving in the Spirit!
