Moderation In Dressing
by Olawale Ogunsola "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
To God be the glory who gave us the Holy Bible to serve as our compass in the journey of life. To obey the sacred commandment is to have life, and to have life abundantly. It is sad that humanity have devoted more time to criticise and condemn this most valuable book in history, to their own detriment.
Apostle Paul's wise counsel to women quoted earlier through Apostle Timothy has been wrestled by so many people, especially those who are not ready to obey it or those who do not understand what he wrote, "according to the wisdom given unto him" (II Peter 3:16). He cautioned against misplaced priority and excessiveness. He mentioned "modest apparel."
Have you come across those women who engage in overdressing? They constitute a problem to themselves and many times to others. Many times, they forget or lose their valuables whenever they go out. This happens as they attempt to maintain their poise (positive) to retain all that they hang in their positions. Many times they fail to keep appointments because it takes time to "hang the hangables". Such people, in many cases incur losses, possibly contracts. Close to this is the fact that they waste other people's time, especially when they must go out as a member of a group.
Not only this, it hinders them from getting the right favour with which to enjoy their lives. What do I mean? As an example, every right thinking woman will want a happy home where everything works well. This calls for having the right man at the helm of affairs in the house. Do you know that overdressing have caused many women to marry amiss? A man who looks for a modest woman to marry will not run after an overdressed one. Ability to introduce moderation can liase a woman to the right man with whom to spend the rest of her life in joy and happiness.
The story of Queen Esther impress me anytime and day. What is it?
When arrogance eliminated Queen Vashti from her position in King Ahazuerus' Palace in Sushan, the King's subjects suggested a replacement. This called for invitation of beautiful virgins out of which one will emerge as a Queen to replace Vashti. One after the other they went in into the King in the night and return in the morning into the "pool of women" in the palace, under the care of Shaashgaz, the King's chamberlain who takes care of women in the second house.
How then was Esther able to scale through to become the Queen?
"Now when the turn of Esther,... was come to go in unto the king; she required
What followed Esther's moderate dressing was she "obtained favour in the sight of all that looked upon her." Pay special attention to the words "All that look upon her" ALL!
That is moderation at work for you!
The undoing of other virgins is "Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the woman unto the King's house.
To sum up the truth, you are free to choose between chosing to dress to become a Queen in the house of your husband and at the end of the day, a virgin of the king of Kings or to become one of the women in the second house of the Lord.
The options are yours. However, I advise that you choose moderation to reap its innumerable benefits.
