The Intervener
by Tonja Taylor

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined. -- Isaiah 9:2 (AMPC)

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.       Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. --Isaiah 9:6,7 (AMPC)

On Christmas Eve, I gathered with my dear widowed mother, my husband, and my daughter and her new husband of only 8 months. As we all drove around in the car feasting on the lovely Christmas lights in town, my daughter, almost 24, told me that she and her husband wanted to buy his brother's house.

It was about to be put on the market, and after looking at it, they decided they wanted it. It would be an easy move across town.

However, since my daughter and her husband were both freshly out of college and had lived wisely, they had not built any credit. They had no credit cards, nor had they charged anything.  Really, that was a good thing, contrary to what many people think!

They applied for a loan and were tersely turned down.

But then, The Intervener showed up.

As my daugher tells it--gleefully, might I add--her new father-in-law, who'd banked at that institution for over 30 years, and who personally knew the bank president, called him.  He reminded the president, his friend, that not only did he have lots of money in the bank, but so did both of his sons, including the one (my daughter's husband) who had applied for the loan. He demanded that the president--his friend, and the man who'd been the loan officer when he (my daughter's new father-in-law) had gotten a loan for his house--correct the loan officer that had turned down my daughter and her husband's loan.

Within just a few hours, the loan officer who had turned my dear daughter and her husband down called and apologized. Not only that, but she rushed the loan through in record time. Normally, it would take weeks, maybe months!

"That," I told my daughter after laughing in satisfied joy, "is Covenant in action--the Government of God! That is a picture of how Daddy God intervenes and fights for us, and sets things right!"

"Yes, Mom, I know!" replied my darling daughter.

We all rejoiced as we celebrated the One Who brought the true Light; Who intervened against the evil one, to bring justice--and set things right--for us all!
