GOLD, FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH
by Lupie Riley GOLD, FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH Freelance writer Lupie Riley Thought: The creche or manger scene, when it was politically correct, was put out at Christmas time to represent the true meaning of Christmas, that of Christ’s birth. Some religious scholars have questioned why the three wise men from the East are part of that scene. They estimate Jesus was around two years old when they brought the child gifts of Gold, frankincense and myrrh. What was the significance of those gifts? Gold represented Jesus as Royalty (deity) and was also used to finance Joseph, Mary and Jesus escape to Egypt because of Herods decree that all infants two and under shall be put to death. Frankincense was ritually burned in the temple by the priests every sabbath as a form of worship and myrrh was often used as embalming oil which represented Christs upcoming death on the cross. All these gifts had a purpose that was to be in the Christ child’s future life. The Vatican has come under fire with their bizarre nativity at St. Peters square. The baby Jesus is undistinguishable when he should be the focal point. How many people today see Jesus in the same way. They do not see him as royalty to be worshiped and his death on the cross is meaningless. Jesus is the coming KING who will restore order, bring in true peace and rule the world for 1,000 years. Our modern pastors today have failed to warn Christians of this event that might happen soon according to the book of Revelations. World events are rapidly falling into place for the seven year tribulation to begin. A global NWO will rule the nations at this time of judgment and the anti-Christ will proclaim he is GOD in the new temple. It will be a time that never has been nor will be again. Nations will be under a great delusion and if God had not intervened all life on Earth would be lost, Math. 24:22 “In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones).” However, believers, those who have placed their faith in Christ will be taken out (rapture) before the seven years of judgment begins. Time is short. Have you been re-born of the Spirit (Jesus coming into your life in Spirit)? He comes as a free gift with a new plan, new purpose and new direction (II Cor. 5:17,19 “When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same any more. A new life has begun! V.19 For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out).” You will be one of those that will meet Jesus in the air (rapture) and be with Him and your loved ones for ever in a place called Heaven. What an exceptional gift God gives us (Salvation) this Christmas and once again it’s permissible to say MERRY CHRISTMAS ! Prayer: Father God, because you are the great I AM, Creator and Redeemer, thank you for the Salvation you offer as a free gift that comes with forgiveness and eternal life. How can I not accept this gift of grace and mercy. Amen Verse: Heb. 2:14-18 “For we, God’s children, are human beings---made of flesh and blood---he became flesh and blood too by being born in human form; for only as a human being could he die and in dying break the power of the devil who had the power of death. Only in that way could he deliver those who through fear of death have been living all their lives as slaves to constant dread. V.18 For since he himself has now been through suffering and temptation, he knows what it is like when we suffer and are tempted, and he is wonderfully able to help us. “ Married 58 years, four children, nine grandchildren and three greats.
