Beauty Is A Good Treasure
by Olawale Ogunsola "That our sons may be as plants
It is a common saying that "Beauty is in the eyes of beholders". However, certain beauty is generally acceptable to every beholder. There is a kind of beauty that even if you reproach it, find fault with it., you will still come to the conclusion that "This is beautiful." Yet, I do not deny the fact that certain beauty is condemmable if you examine it closely to find faults. This is not the type of beauty I meant. This is not beautiful enough.
Generally speaking true beauty exists! Is this true? Yes!
Let us briefly make reference to a man who was blessed with beautiful daughters in the latter days of his life. The man is Job. Initial introduction of this man shows his prosperity thus,
He had other possessions including "a very large household" which made him "the greatest of all the people of the East" verse 3.
This man, Job went through a turbulent time and lost all his possessions, including his sons and daughters and his large household. When his trying period was over, he was blessed more than the first part of his life. The Scriptures record,
Note that this children were part of his blessings from God. Pay attention also to the phrases,"In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job. This is true beauty that cannot be disdained. It cannot be taken away. It is natural from above. They were designed by their Creator. This is a beauty that cannot be hidden from anyone whose eyes are not mal-functioning. It is a beauty to behold by all.
This type of beauty is not in any way a function of cosmetics at all. It does not come from the type or quantity of cosmetics applied. It comes pure and natural. It is a treasure from God.
This is the kind of beauty seen in the life of Sarai (Sarah) the wife of Father of faith, Abraham. It is a kind of beauty appreciated by her husband and Egyptian's nobles who recommended her to King Pharaoh as wife. What was her age then? She was not less than sixty - five years old. Hers was beauty at its best!
If Sarai's beauty were a function of cosmetics, her husband would have told her to wash every applied cosmetics to hide her beauty so that he, Abraham would not be killed because of her. It was a beauty that was obvious to all beholders. A beauty that called for application of wisdom to save Abraham's life from the hands of people of Egypt who did not fear God.
What was the secret of Sarai's beauty?
The above "cosmetics" must be applied and employed to maintain your God given beauty. Your beauty is a great possession from your Creator. It is a treasure you must preserve and use for the glory of your Maker. It must be kept for the use of the fellow into whose hand He has given you. It is not the same thing as nudity or public display of your private parts. Do not abuse your beauty ;it is a waste of God 's resources in your care. Let your Maker be happy that you use and maintain it for His glory. Do not allow your beauty to be ill-spoken of. It is a blessing, keep it and let everyone know and say "This is a virtuous woman."
