RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY
by Lupie Riley RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY Freelance writer Lupie Riley Thought: We live in a world of diversity. It’s estimated there are over 4200 religions in the world today with Christianity and Islam being the largest in numbers. It’s enough to boggle the mind for someone searching for truth and purpose. A good share of these religions require allegiance to their particular doctrines in order to reach that place of peace. Most claim they have all the answers and are the true church and only pathway to Heaven if you follow their rules. Unfortunately, their leaders are all dead and in the grave or tomb turning into the dust from which they came. This one fact that makes Christianity unique and set apart from religions is that our leader is alive. He defeated death by rising from the dead three days after his crucifixion and now is our mediator and spirit mentor. Jesus imparts hope, purpose and eternal life for those who believe in his message. “I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE no man cometh unto the Father but by me. (John 14:6)” Christianity is not in the category of religions but is a relationship with the Holy Creator God. There’s much evidence in archeology discoveries that validates a God/man once walked on Earth over 2,000 years ago. His mission in the flesh was to be that substitute for you and I so that we could be reunited with God the Father. Jesus took the sins of the world upon the cross so that we could be exonerated from separation that had taken place with Adam and Eve’s disobedience. It takes more faith to believe we came from nothing as the evolutionists propose with a dead end to life then to believe there is a mastermind behind it all. Life is too complex as we look at the composition of our human bodies and that does not take in all of creation. Common sense tells us there is a creator God who loves us very much and He desires for us to have a relationship with Him. He’s not some undefinable force in the heavens we can’t relate to. He became flesh and bone in the person of Jesus Christ who reaches out to all who are searching for Truth and purpose. Christianity is not a religion of works but a relationship with the true God of all creation. We are immortal spiritual beings with only two places of destination and the choice is ours to make. Prayer: Father God, thank you for saving me from a life of separation. Jesus paid that price for me to be reconciled to you and now I have a purpose and plan and a future that will last an eternity. Amen Verse: Heb. 2:27 “But you have received the Holy Spirit and he lives within you in your hearts, so that you don’t need anyone to teach you what is right. For he teaches you all things and he is the Truth and no liar, and so, just as he has said, you must live in Christ, never to depart from Him.” Married 58 years, four children, nine grandchildren and three greats.
