The Amazing Passion Of The Almighty God For More Souls
by Ngozi Nwoke

What's your passion in life? Many people are running with their passion and are doing great exploits. Now God, who caused human beings to have a passion for things, also has passion. And God's passion is for souls.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life - John 3:16 (NKJV).

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance - 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV).

Many people don't understand why Christians have to go around preaching the gospel of Christ everywhere. And they wonder why they should do it to the point of suffering for it. Sometimes, they even consider it as a disturbance. However, one may not blame them because they are ignorant of God's love for us. And they don't know His passion for souls to reconcile back to Him.

What is passion?

Passion is a strong feeling for something to the point that you're ready to suffer for it. Also, it's something that you are ready to forgo many other things to be able to focus on it. And it's what empowers you to make a difference in life. Furthermore, passion is what drives you to work hard even when you don't feel like doing so. And it will make you learn more and even go to so many places to fulfill your passion. However, working on your passion in life gets you to your desired peak while giving you great joy in the process. In summary, it's what you love or love doing, and you're ready to make sacrifices to fulfil it.

God's passion for souls

In the same vein, God has a passion for souls to be saved, for them to reconcile back to Him. And it's not His will for anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9).

God's passion for us not to perish drove Him to sacrifice His only Son Jesus (John 3:16). And it made Him allow people He created to mock and humiliate His Son. Also, He had to suffer the pain of forsaking His Son for the first time when Jesus carried all our sins on the cross. This is because He will never behold iniquity no matter who is bearing or committing it (Matthew 27:46, Habakkuk 1:13).

This God's passion for souls to reconcile back to Him didn't start the day Jesus was crucified. Rather, it started the day Adam ate the forbidden fruit. And the Lord told the serpent that the seed of Adam was going to bruise his heels. So, it was then that God hatched His plan for man's redemption (Genesis 3:15, Matthew 1:21, 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21).

God's passion drove Him to work

After the fall of man, the Lord swung into action on how to reconcile man back to Himself. So, all through the Old Testament, prophecies about the birth, life, and death of Jesus were foretold. And His lineage was prepared to receive Him. Then, in the New Testament, all were fulfilled except those about His second coming.

The Lord prepared the twelve apostles who spearheaded God's plan for the reconciliation of man. He worked with them and confirmed their words with signs and wonders. This is because, without signs, the man wasn't going to believe (Mark 16:20, John 4:48).

Furthermore, God is strongly fulfilling His reconciliation plan by ensuring that no person or force of authority stops it. For instance, when the leaders wanted to kill the apostles to stop the spread of the teachings in the name of Jesus, the Lord raised a man among them to kill the idea. Also, God destroyed Herod's plan to kill Peter, and he who wanted the gospel to end died but the word grew and multiplied (Acts 5:33-34, 38-40, Acts 12:11, 23-24)

The Lord's driving force

God's love for us was the driving force behind His passion for souls. So, it was love that made Him sacrifice His son for us. And it's this love that is still making Him work till this day. So, no matter how much people try to destroy Christians and bury the gospel of Christ, it will never work. This is because, like Jesus told Saul, it's difficult to kick against the goads (Acts 9:5).

God's success

Truly, the Lord has succeeded and is still succeeding because generations have come and gone, and the gospel is still waxing strong. Also, God has reconciled multitudes back to Himself and many will still do so. So, God's passion for us is thriving and will be fully fulfilled. Praise God!

Therefore, I charge all believing Christians to join God's army on the move and reach out to souls. Also, ignite the passion for souls in your heart and God will work with you confirming your words with signs and wonders.
