About a decade ago, one of the older elementary kids in my class at church  asked me, "Why fear God?" 

Today, I finally decided to write a some things about why we should fear (revere, worship, respect) the LORD.

I asked Him, (He is the Author; I am a Matthew 13:52 Scribe) to write through me.

Very quickly, as the Holy Spirit kept bringing more and more reasons to my mind of why we should fear (worship, respect, revere) the LORD, I began to be in awe of the goodness and majesty of our God! I continued to write, then had to stop and raise my hands in worship, with tears of thanksgiving and joy and awe flowing down my cheeks.  HOW GREAT AND GRACIOUS IS OUR GOD!)

As I told my husband later--after completing a list of many Reasons to Fear the LORD!-- I am sure there is more, and that I could take each one of these points and elaborate as the Spirit of Truth teaches me! 

It seems good to the Holy Spirit and me, so that is what I will do! 

As I research the Word and teach you, may you grow ever closer to our truly awesome God, and greater in true awe of Him. I know I will! --  Tonja

After I "finished" the list this morning, this verse came to mind, one that has comforted and encouraged me many times through the decades: 

Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere, and worship You, goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!-- Psalm 31:19, AMPC

God is good, and all good! 

So here are 51 reasons we should fear (revere, worship, and respect) Him: 

1. He is holy (Divine, Diety)

2. He is sovereign

3. He is light (Revelation)

4. He is Truth

5. He is the I AM

6. He is omnipotent (all-powerful)

7. He is omniscient (all-knowing)

8. He is omnipresent (everywhere at once)

9. He is life

10. He is good

11. He is the only way to Heaven

12. He is Yahweh, the Covenant God

13. He is the LORD Who heals us

14. He is the LORD our Peace

15. He is the Creator

16. He is the LORD our Defender

17. He is the LORD our Righteousness

18. He is the LORD our Victorious Miracle Banner

19. He is our forever Friend

20. He is our wonderful Counselor

21. He is our Good Shepherd

22. He is our Provider

23. He is our Comforter

24. He is our Shield

25. He is our Song

26. He is the One Who judges on our behalf

27. He is the One Who cleanses us by His blood

28. He is our Teacher

29. He is our Spirit Guide

30. He is our Covering

31. He is our Refuge

32. He is our Restorer

33. He is the only One Who never lies

34. He is the One Who delights in us

35. He is our Wisdom

36. He is our Strength

37. He is the Spirit of Grace

38. He is our Helper

39. He is the LORD of the Angel armies, Jehovah Sabaoth

40.. He is worthy of all praise and glory and honor

41. He is our Passover Lamb

42. He is the Lover of our soul

43. He is our Secret-Keeper

44. He is Love

45. He is the Resurrected One

46. He is the Revealer

47. He is the Liberator

48. He is the Path

49. He is the Blessing

50. He is Beautiful for every situation

51. He is the only Savior of the world!

I bet you can think of even more! And, as I was posting this and editing it just now, he gave me seven more! There were 44 when I started posting this a few minutes ago! Hallelujah!
