Night Vigils
by Sue Darling NIGHT VIGIL God has been training me for a few years now to get out of bed in the middle of the night for a few hours at a time to pray. I believe most of us should not only fast, but those who are particularly in good health should make this sacrifice. Because not only is the church in great need of purification, but to save the lost, who don’t know God at all. And don’t know how beautiful it is to have a real relationship with Him. I am sure most would want this relationship if Christians were to manifest the love of God themselves more. I have suffered sleep deprivation for over forty years, so to get up in the middle of the night to pray sounds crazy. I should be dead well and truly from over exhaustion. I am alive only because it is Gods’ Will. God performs miracles all the time. It is time we learn to trust Him. The trick is are you listening to God or some wild imagining. You can guarantee that God will back up what He sets you out to do. If it’s not His Will things fall apart very quickly. When it is Gods Will you have to rely on Him not your own strength and you will succeed. I remember when I first started to realise how powerful prayer was and that God listens to all of us, including me. My mother and I started with ten minutes a day in prayer and we were overjoyed by it, thinking we were pretty good doing that much. Little by little God increased it until it became hours a day. So if you are not use to praying, choose some prayers that touch your heart and start saying them for as long as you can. Don’t forget to just chat to God as a beloved child to a Father he adores too. That warms your heart up and gives you strength to obey Him in what He is calling you to do. I if you are very new at it, don’t be shy about it. Just do it anyway and I can guarantee you will feel close to Him by doing this. It did me when I first tried it. For the more seasoned Christian if you can’t get up in the middle of the night to pray, try to go to bed and hour later or get up an hour early. We must start praying for our church, country and for the lost. I read a prophesy ages ago and Jesus was saying if we knew what was coming in the future we would be down on our knees day and night praying. I don’t mean to scare you, but prayer is one of the weapons God has given us to stay strong and overcome the enemy. Remember we win this war, so don’t be afraid. We must learn to appreciate everything God has done for us and praise Him as often as we can. It keeps the relationship with Him alive. We don’t want to be lukewarm and be spewed out of His mouth. Please give it a go. The church is in great need of revival itself before it can be effective saving others.
Prayer is so powerful and we need to pray for everybody not just our family. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
