That Voice, That Demon
by Tesse Wilson

That voice seems to be getting louder and louder
Persuading, pointing out that no one cares
Constantly reminding of the negatives
Reasoning why it should be done
Suggesting ways it can be done
That voice says:
Pull the trigger
Take the pills
Tie a noose around your neck
Overdose
Get back at them

That voice seem to be silent until one is alone
If they really cared, they should have done more for you, that voice says
You are worthless, look at you
Pointing out all the things you dislike about yourself
Constantly reminding you of your failures
That voice… so abusive
Bombabing your mind with harmful suggestions
There is no cure
You will suffer
No one will forgive you screams that voice
Loser!
Stupid!
Ugly!
Fat!
Just do it!
Reminding you of something negative your parents, relatives, a teacher, or another person did or said to you
That voice steals faith and hope from the heart

STOP! Do not act out those suggestions
Consider this
That voice seems so familiar with you
That voice delights in hurting you
The personality behind the voice is a demon
Who observed you; your strengths and weaknesses
Looking for an opportunity to torment and kill
The demon wants a prey
Decide today it would not be you
Suicide is the not answer
Do not give up your will power
Help is available
You are precious
What you need most is not to escape from life
But to be delivered…
You need to receive the peace that transcends understanding
You need to receive mercy
You need to receive truth
You need to receive love
You need Jesus
He overcame that voice, that demon, that liar
Peace to your heart
Listen! Jesus speaks peace over you
Let hope arise in you
