The Last Generation
by Don Pedal We may be the last generation to make a difference in the secular world in which we live. The elderly remember the rantings of Hitler who promised his regime would last a thousand years and ended up in an unmarked grave. Some of who served in World War 2, remember the ovens of Auschwitz and Dachau. We remember the bombings that destroyed Berlin and many other cities. We are the crossover generation that connects the distant past to the secular world in which we live. Many of you are thinking; who cares, life is good. I live in a peaceful area. My bank account, and, business or profession are growing every day. You don't seem to realize that all your sources of security could be wiped out with the click of a computer button. You don't realize there is a Supreme Being who is deeply concerned and involved in our daily lives. Your college education has taught you that believing in God is the opiate of the masses, to quote Lenin. Some of you may be thinking; why should I care? Isn't that why we hire pastors to take care of such things? That is what tithes are for. Many of our best, born again pastors, are exhausted in trying to reach out into the lost secular world, waiting to hear the wonderful message of Jesus Christ. Our world is filled with millennials who have never heard about our Lord Jesus Christ. The question arises; what do you mean by millennials? Millennials denotes young people reaching young adulthood in the early twenty- first century. You might also think, don't they have a TV or smart phone like the rest of us? The answer is yes, but why should they listen to Christian programming, filled with bickering, when the airwaves are filled with much more exciting things. That is why there is an urgency to go into our personal world and make a difference. We meet and influence people every day that would never hear about Jesus Christ any other way. You might be pondering; I wonder what he means by making a difference? To them I would say; Christ is knocking at the door. (Rev.3: 20). Open the door. He will come in and have a personal relationship with us. He will forgive our sins, if we are sincere, and lead us into that wonderful world He has planned for us. We will be indwelt by The Holy Spirit and have access to the very throne room of the Father. (Acts7:55,56). How do I know that I am anointed to work in the white harvest? When you are having your next prayer time with our Lord, ask Him to show you. You are a unique person with natural inborn talents and skills. Whatever you are lacking, our Lord will provide. With Him, all things are possible. You must now consider how you can effectively reach out into the white harvest. What are you most excited about? What do you seem to be drawn to? Some people think that, because they enjoy their work, it must not be from God. That is wrong! Our Lord gives us a joy in serving Him that passes all understanding. Reach out now as you feel lead and our Lord will guide you as you go. Our Heavenly Father says that souls are being lost every day because the harvest is white but the workers are few. (Matt.9:37). There is an urgency. Act now! What are you waiting for? As a senior citizen, I am dedicated to serving the Lord through sharing my experiences and insights with other believers. My primary focus is upon being an disciple of Jesus and, in being one, I can help others to find their spiritual way also.
