She Got It!
by Yaa Attobrah

"

As I was reading Matthew 26:6-13 the other morning, all kinds of thoughts flittered through my mind.

  • Who was Simon the Leper (I think that will be another post)?

  • Why were the disciples so upset about the woman anointing Jesus, etc?

"

As I finished my reading and still reflecting on these scriptures, it suddenly dawned on me, “She got it!” This was a “thunderbolt between the eyes” moment for me! This woman did get it! She had determined in her heart who Jesus was to her. She came to worship Him with everything she had. There were no “ifs”, “when”, “why” or “buts” for her; no excuses to keep her from worshipping the Master! She settled it in her heart once and for all. That is the reason why she was able to pour the costly oil on Jesus’ head. She reminds me of King David who also purposed in his heart that he would not make a sacrifice to God which cost him nothing (the threshing floor ofAraunah the Jebusite – 2 Samuel 24:21-25). It was all or nothing for these two!

"

Partial commitment to the Lord is only that, a halfhearted attempt to include Him in our daily lives. Did this woman pay any mind to the distraction, the naysayers who were so indignant about her “supposed” waste? No, she was focused, looking ahead. She only saw Jesus, and what He had done for her. Yes, to this day that which she did has become a memorial to her as Jesus said in verse 13. It never ceases to amaze me each time I read this scripture, I come undone. What a testimony!

"

Beloved woman, what has become a distraction for you in your service to the Lord? Lay it at the feet of the Cross. Pick up and hold onto Jesus, it is all or nothing!

"

Prayer:

Dear Lord, please help me to focus on you with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind. Help me to be unwavering in my commitment to loving and serving you. May others be drawn to you because of your light shining brightly in me, amen.

Remain blessed!
