What Is A Disciple
by Don Pedal

Have you ever noticed the faces of the people who pass you as they scurry about? Many of them are suffering the pain of confusion, frustration and loneliness. Many of them have given up trying to solve their problems and have no one to tell them that there is One who is waiting to love them, bless them and give them the inner peace they long for. His name is Jesus                                                                        In Matt. 28:19 Jesus said, "Go forth and make disciples of all nations". It is a command and not a suggestion. Let us start out by defining what we mean by the word disciple. If we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior are we not disciples?  One dictionary defines disciple as, "One who follows and accepts a teacher or doctrine". The word accepts is a stumbling block for many people, and hinders their walk and service to our Lord. When we accept our Lord, we are willing to become His servant. That involves putting aside our own agenda and walking with Him, daily, as He leads us. We are afraid that He might ask us to do something difficult or inconvenient. God will never ask us to do anything that He will not enable us to do.                                                                                                                                There is a vast white harvest out there, both here and in other countries, who are waiting for dedicated disciples to lead them to our Savior. He is ready to welcome people of the harvest, bless them, and give them the greatest gift they will ever receive. That gift is the free gift of eternal life, sins paid for in full. He is ready to walk with them each day, steady them if they become weary and falter. He is anxious to lead them to the new life He has planned for them. He will grant them a peace that passes all understanding and the joy of a whole new life He has prepared for them.

The question now is --- what are you going to do about it?

You have three choices --- Yes, no or I'll think about it. If you say yes, our Lord will richly bless and enable you to accomplish things that you would never have dreamed you were capable of. If you say no because you are afraid that you will be called to a foreign country, you might consider ministering right here in your own neighborhood. To think about it is only an excuse for delay and usually results in our getting caught up in some other concern.

The white harvest is waiting. Act now! See pain and sorrow turn to peace and joy as our Lord blesses you as you minister to a world waiting for you action.

As a senior citizen, I am dedicated to serving the Lord through sharing my experiences and insights with other believers. My primary focus is upon being an disciple of Jesus and, in being one, I can help others to find their spiritual way also.
