THE TAPESTRY
by Rachel Jamerson There is no such thing as a “functional” family; they are all “dysfunctional” in one way or another. We are flawed beings. We measure ourselves, and our families, by others around us and while they may not experience the same dysfunctions as we do, they have their unique problems. There is only one standard of measure, and that is Christ, as He is expressed in God’s Word. God created man in His image, and in His wisdom, He made each unique. You are the only “you” there will ever be, and I am the only “me” there will ever be. God’s creation was designed to fit together like a puzzle – each part supplying their unique piece of the final picture. Corner pieces will not experience the same problems as the inside pieces and so-on throughout the image. I have what you need, and you have what I need. Why can’t we share?
In a modern day building, there are many pieces. The footings, foundation, floor system, rough plumbing and wiring, insulation, framing, walls, ceilings, roof system, roof, finish materials and decoration. The absence of any of these pieces would cause some level of dysfunction in the building; some could render the whole structure useless. We go about discouraged and upset because we either don’t like where we are, or we want to be where someone else is. God is the master builder. He created and set each piece as it pleased Him. Remember He knew us before the world was formed; He knows what is best for all of us. There is strength and weakness in each of us. Therefore it is inappropriate for any of us to judge the rest of us. Bloom where you are planted. Be the very best foundation you can be and provide support for all the other pieces that depend on your faithfulness. Everyone who crosses your path throughout life is an opportunity. They are there for a reason – to uplift you or to be uplifted. At times it may be as simple as a smile, at other times it may be as crucial as their eternal destiny. We don’t all have the same opportunities or trials. However, we will all give an account of the deeds done in the flesh. If you are a born-again believer, you have the mind of Christ. You do not have to be confused, uncertain, distraught or blind. You do however have to exercise faith, faith that God is in control and He will bring about what is best for you, no matter what your circumstances may be. That does not mean nothing unpleasant will ever happen to you. The Apostles were martyred, Jesus was crucified, many heroes of the faith were burned at the stake or murdered in heinous ways. So why do we get upset if we lose our job, suffer financial loss, suffer a breakup in a vital relationship, or even develop cancer or lose a loved one to death? God has been weaving a remarkable tapestry for thousands of years – each of us supplies a measure of thread that will ultimately create the final picture. Some may be crimson red or gold forming the reflection of the sunlight across the landscape. Others may be brown, grey or even black all of which are necessary to frame the brilliant colors. The beauty of God’s creation is far beyond our ability even to imagine, and you and I are a unique part of the whole.
rachelrjamerson.com After becoming a Christian, my desire to write and quest for answers were dedicated to understanding God?s message to man. What exactly was He saying and why were there so many different interpretations? As a result, I became an avid student of scripture. God gave me the desire to learn, research, study and write all of which I enjoy. When you can plainly see the path God has set before you it becomes easier to overcome the obstacles placed by the enemy. The scriptures are a light for your pathway. If you desire to know the truth, you will and the truth will set you free from bondage. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
