The Hidden Treasure
by Steve Countryman It has to do with perspective and your personal beliefs. How do you view the Word? Most Christians who read the Word on a regular basis view it as life’s manual. A guide to living a impactful daily life. The Word of God taken at face value is a beauty to behold. It’s like looking at a wonderfully decorated and ornate treasure chest. Jewels of all kinds are inlaid in gold trim that makes up the chest. Just the appearance of the outside is so amazing and wondrous that most Christians become mesmerized by it. They miss out on what the inside of the chest has to offer. You must have the key to unlock this treasure chest. You have to be willing to do what is necessary to obtain this key. A daily relationship with your Father God is where you start. Spending time in His Word and in prayer to get closer to Him. Professing your love for Father God is not enough. You prove your love for Him by being obedient and keeping His commands. Jesus speaking… John 14:15 “If you love me, keep my commands.” Once you have the key you can open the treasure chest and reveal the hidden treasure inside and let the Word of God speak to you!. I have often mentioned the importance of declaring the Word of God out loud. How you can take God’s Word and by changing it to first person you personalize it to impact those words you declare. You can also change the tense to a present day or “now” word. Both of these actions will impact and change your outlook and faith in God’s Word. Here is one example in its original text… Isaiah 40:28-31 28 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Now here it is changed to God speaking TO YOU… Isaiah 40:28-31 28 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? I the Lord am the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. I do not grow tired or weary, and my understanding no one can fathom. 29 I give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope is in Me will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Declaring God’s Word as a now Word is what you are doing when you read declarations like this one I put together a few years ago… http://articles.faithwriters.com/reprint-article-details.ph… Understand that when you declare “I AM” you are doing so in the present tense. It doesn’t say “I will be” or “Someday I might be” but it does say “I AM” which means you are! The treasure chest is the Word of God. The key is your daily walk that makes Jesus real in your life. And the hidden treasure is how you use and declare God’s Word that WILL impact you and the world around you! Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
