ARE YOU DISSERTED BY FRIENDS?
by Olawale Ogunsola ARE YOU DISSERTED BY FRIENDS? “Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion.” Micah 7:5a-b. Loneliness is a disease that kills slowly. That is the reason we need each other. We must relate with each other. It is a law of meaningful living; and a successful one for that matter. As good as having friends is it must be carried out with care. As you associate with other people, most especially friends, do not put your absolute trust in any. Therefore, watch! There are certain friends who come to you purposely for their own selfish reasons. You may or may not observe this now. There are other reasons certain people relate with you. Whatever may be the reason, be very careful and watchful. Trust not in any of them. Why? Watching and not trusting in any friend will guard your heart in times of needs when friends may dissert you. Your loss will be minimal when you are disappointed. You can use “mankind” and “disappointment” synonymously. This is not a rule of grammar but that of relationship. Mankind can easily disappoint each other for obvious reasons. Let us learn a lesson from the life of Job, the righteous man. When troubles fell on him in various ways and forms; certain of his friends took to their heels. They went away from his dwelling. Job was left alone. Among his friends, three persons whose love for Job was exceptional came to him and stayed with him for many days. These best friends of Job attempted to comfort him (and) they ended becoming, “... forgers of lies, worthless physicians,” and “.... miserable comforters”. in the words of Job. (Job 13:2, 16:2). That was what the best friends of Job became in the time of Job’s needs of them. Do not blame them, they were human beings. After all, you are also a human being you possess same qualities. Then, what is the best way out? You need a Person with whom you can go through storms anytime, anywhere and anyhow. There is one and only Person who fits into this. When He is with you, you are comforted on all sides. Hear what He says in John 15:14. “You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.” He loves, not only to comfort you, but to lead and direct you in the way to go. All that He requires from you is to “DO WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU” Are you interested in doing whatever He commands? Then do not hesitate a minute longer to accept Him as the Lord of your life. He alone can rescue you from every sin that wants to sink you. Not only this, to do His commands, you must know what the command is. For this reason, you need a copy of the Holy Bible in which you must meditate day and night. An experienced song writer who had a smooth relationship with Jesus Christ has to say: “There is no friend like Jesus in this world. Jesus is the only sincere friend The friend of this world will one day leave us But the Lord will never forget us.” You need Him. He loves you. Love Him and live for Him, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord. Read your Holy Bible daily!
