Thought: In the Greek language blessed translates as the word 'happy'. Authors of the Living Bible prefer to use the word happy in describing Jesus blessings upon the people. He spoke those words from the Mount of Olives, a hill in Northern Israel. In this very spot Jesus revealed his emotions when he wept over the rebellion of his people in Jerusalem. "Jesus wept" is the shortest verse in the Bible. At the base of this hill is the Garden of Gethsemane where he prayed for future believers--that's you and me and all those that are a part of his family. The Beatitudes is a summary of all Jesus teachings through these eight blessings. They are a state of spiritual well being, a joy deep within the soul. Those that are blessed have a share in God's Kingdom because their primary reason for living is to please God in all they say and do.
In the beginning of the seven year tribulation there will be a time of "happy" for all the world during the first 3 1/2 years of Global peace but it will be a false peace. In the middle of the seven years the Anti-Christ (one world leader) will demand everyone to be chipped with his number of ownership that will send them into eternal damnation. There will be two groups of people prior to the beginning of the tribulation--those who scoff at prophecy and deny Christ and those that are 'happy' (blessed) to be in the great evacuation (rapture) of God's children. As a believer our joy and peace should be in Jesus soon return to take us home to that place he has prepared for us (Heaven). He's coming soon!!! Listen for that trumpet blast.
Prayer: Father God, I need your help to put you first in my daily living. There are so many distractions in the world today that lure my attention away from you. Help me to sort through life's chatter and keep my eyes upon you. Amen
Verse: "One day as the crowds were gathering, he went up the hillside with his deciples and sat down and taught them there". Read the Beatitudes in Math. 5:3-11
