Couple Discuss Church They Attend with Best Friends

There were many reasons Thomas and his wife Teresa loved the church they attended.
The couple lived next door to their best friends, Trey and Trish, with whom they spent a lot of time. Every Friday evening, the couple dined together at a local restaurant, enjoying each other’s company, as well as great cuisine.
During one of their dining adventures, the conversation turned to the church Thomas and Teresa attended. Trey and Trish weren’t Christians, and they didn’t regularly attend church.
After telling Trey and Trish the difference Jesus had made in his life, Thomas said the church’s members were extremely friendly. “They are the friendliest people you’ll find in any church,” he said.
Teresa agreed with Thomas about the church’s friendliness. She added, “We also have wonderful and exciting fellowship opportunities throughout the week. On Tuesdays, we all get together for an evening of bowling fun.”
“And on Thursdays, the men offer the community’s youth a series of free classes about business opportunities and career paths,” Thomas said. “The men are also in the process of starting a program to offer financial assistance to teens who want to go to college.”
Thomas put in a plug for the women’s activities. “The women are always involved in lots of activities,” he said.
“How long have you guys been attending this church?” asked Trey.
“Probably about a year,” said Teresa. “It’s great!”
Trish wanted to know about the number of regular worshipers. “I don’t like to be in large crowds,” she explained.
Teresa told Trish the congregation was still relatively small. “We’re growing,” Teresa said. “We’re averaging about a hundred people a week, but our goal is two hundred and fifty by the end of the year.”
Teresa continued, “I was attending another church, but I began attending this church with Thomas after we got married.”
Trish asked about the children’s programs offered by the church. “Since we were married only recently, we want to have some children and if we begin going to church, we would want a strong children’s program,” she explained.
“Some say children are the church of tomorrow,” Teresa said, “but I believe they are the church of today. We offer programs to teach children about how to live for the Lord in today’s world.”
Trey asked, “What is the church’s biggest attraction?”
“Without hesitation, Thomas responded, “Without a doubt, it’s the powerful preaching of God’s Holy Word! Without that, there would be no reason or purpose for any of the programs!”
