REASON FOR THE SEASON

Thought: This December Merry Christmas is back in the mainstream of America’s vocabulary during this joyous season. Happy Holiday went out the back door with the recent Christmas cards coming out of the White House. It’s now proper to greet one another with a hearty “Merry Christmas”. We no longer have to worry about being ‘polically correct’ because Christ has been restored to His proper place in our hearts and home.
Even the shepherds tending the sheep on that enchanted evening were astounded by the Angels salutation “The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born tonight in Bethlehem”. Does the song Hark the Herald Angels sing have a familiar ring to it?
The God-man Jesus becoming man was foretold hundreds of years before in Isaiah’s time. “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Three words catch my attention that describes the triune essence of Jesus-- Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. He is the Creator God that put on the flesh of a human. He addressed the Spirit (God) of the trinity as Father and he’s coming back not only as a Prince but King over all the world.

If Mary had only realized that night the future impact her special baby would have on mankind bringing in Salvation to all who would place their faith in Him, she would have been in awe and held him even more tightly to her breast. She was the blessed virgin who bore the Christ child, Creator of all there is that even time itself began over again. We can now shout it from the rooftops without reservations MERRY CHRIST-MAS and a very Happy New Year. Maranatha

Prayer: Father God, Christmas is all about Christ, the Savior of the world. He is the reason for the season. His story is foretold hundreds of years before he was born and placed in a manger that starlit night. Thank you for Jesus, Savior of my soul. Amen
Verse: I Tim. 3:16 KJ “ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory".
