The Fifty Year Old Newlyweds
by J. Anthony Williams

We are about to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary and at fifty, fifty four for me, we are happily in love and know it will last as God means a marriage to last.

We both look in awe at the misled marriage couples condoning lifestyles that can only lead to disaster. Our heartfelt sorrow to couples with children as they argue and fight in front of the very little ones God has given to them.

Although we are in our fifties, we have learned the importance of a marriage based on The Lord in charge. He gave the divine instructions for living in the Holy Bible and it is not difficult to recognize those words as truth and wisdom. These are instructions we both wish would be seen as we see them. There would be fewer divorces I'm sure.

Although we married rather quickly, we knew when we met that it would last a lifetime. We still learn about each other and it's not all perfect. When we take our troubles or our differences to The Lord, He helps us solve our problems and all is well. These are the miracles of our life. Miracles we try to share with others. The light in the darkness.

Immoral practices and behavior even taught to the children are condoned as the ways of the world and alright. Lifestyles that are accepted as normal and the rights of Christian parents are trampled without much mercy.

As newlyweds and a couple that has been around the experience block a few times, these things trouble us as Christians. Those of you that agree, the eighty six percentile that believe in God, maybe should help take a stand and get the political lobby in favor of marriage and families, right and good, instead of individual false justifications for wrong and immoral behavior.

As for my wife, God keep blessing her, she tries her best to live and treat our marriage as the woman in Proverbs: 31. For me, she truly is the diamond in my life. More precious than gold. As for me, the more she tries to be this woman of scripture, the more proud of her I am. I will not cease in exclaiming my pride to all and especially to The Lord. Praise Him.

I try to be the husband of Scripture, although my past mistakes still haunt me, I know I have The Lord as friend and collaborator. He keeps me on the path and picks me up when I fall. The Holy Scriptures are my field guide. Prayer is my solice and quiet. In belief I walk the roads that beset our marriaqge on all sides. My Father in Heaven, The Son, and The Holy Spirit are my marriage counselors.

I left a bad marriage and divorce behind me only a short two years ago. My wife and I knew each other two months before marrying. Since I married, The Lord has blessed me with a fine family on her side, good transportation, and we recently closed on a house. I arrived in this place in which I live with two hundred dollars and was living in a small recreational vehicle.

My wife, my marriage, my lot in this new life, is a miracle. So also the rest of The Lord's blessings. Praise Him.
