Translucent cocoon
Of silken threads
Holds my love within
Keeping you safe for a little while
From the world beyond our door

Then the day will come
When I must watch
The beautiful transformation
As you emerge from the cocoon
And childhood is no more

Like a butterfly
On gossamer wings
You will fly away
My work is done and I must let you go
To explore the world beyond our door
