Do Not Be A Handsome Hell
by Olawale Ogunsola Hell, by all definitions and descriptions, is not a good thing to desire or a place to be. Nothing should attract you, or anyone who loves himself, to it. You must avoid it. How then come A Handsome Hell? A horrible experience of hell can be experienced on earth, when it is wrapped in a good looking cover. The outward appearance may looks appealling but underneath is hard life and harrowing experience. A man may look handsome and wealthy but both attributes can turn out to become Hell Wrappers. Having a relationship with him can be hellish, full of regrets. Now , let us briefly examine two bad qualities that can turn a handsome and wealthy man into a handsome Hell. One, a man of great wrath, no matter his handsomeness or wealth, has hell within him and can harm others. Two, a man no one can talk to. The Scriptures says, "Do not be wise in your own eyes", A wise man sometimes changes his decisions and having many wise counsellors is a blessing to anyone who has them. But not so with anyone nobody can talk to, he will not give room for counsel. His decisions, right or wrong is always final. No second thought! In both cases, such a man will destroy himself suddenly. Before then , the tendency is there that he will not have access to the joy of life and pleasures in relationships. Not only so, others around him will in turn suffer same fate. It is not only him who will be destroyed but those around him together. His negative decisions and not being correctable can bring evil on him and his household. It suffices to say that a man of great wrath and one who cannot be spoken to should not have friends, companions, let alone a wife. Why? The Holy Bible warns that someone close to an angry man may learn his way and get a snare for himself. Who wants that? Abigail will never forget her experience for getting married to her husband, Nabal . He was described thus, "And there was a man in Ma'on,whose business was in Carmel. The man was very rich... Now the name of the man was Nabal... and he is so ill-natured that one cannot speak to him," I Sam 25:2-3, 17 Revised Standard Version . It was Abigail's wisdom and understanding that prevented all evils determined against Nabal and his household by David. What happened later? "And about ten days later the Lord smote Nabal; and he died. " I Sam 25:38. RSV Nabal was a man who was "good" in answering good people roughly ( I Sam 25:14-15), yet, he was rich. His handsomeness, wealth and riches could not prevent ( or help him) from being destroyed suddenly. Are you also A Handsome Hell? If you must not live a lonely life, or be destroyed suddenly, today, * You must realise and acknowledge your helplessness * Regret your past and present status * Determine to have a new way of life * Invite Jesus Christ, to take over your heart , soul and mind and rule it forever. * Obtain a copy of the Holy Bible that you may read it and obey its instructions * Join an assembly of brethren where they share the scriptures. Cease to be a Handsome Hell! Stay blessed and rapturable, the Lord is coming soon.
