Waiting On The Rain; A Prayer For Malawi
by ron kyker

People in Malawi Africa are praying for rain. It is their rainy season and the rains are not coming. The people of Malawi rely on this season of rain to sustain them throughout the year. If the rains do not come; all that require its sustenance, dies. Each blade of grass, as Spurgeon said, needs its drop of dew. What blades of grass receive it not; it withers and dies. The people of Malawi need our prayers. Does the rain have a Father? Is there a Father of the rain "who hath begotten the drops of dew"? We need to pray to the Father of the rain to shower Malawi with His merciful drops of rain. God will have mercy on whom He wills. I pray for God's mercy upon His precious people in this dry and thirsty land.

Malawi is not dry of God's people. They thirst, not only for His refreshing drops of rain, but to know Him. There are Pastors/Leaders and Churches thriving there seeking God's "latter rain". They seek God's spiritual refreshment. They seek God's Word. Churches from America go regularly building Churches and building the Kingdom of God. I am so captured by their faith in God and their desire for any drops of spiritual dew He would nourish them with. These believers in Christ celebrate His goodness openly and find God's Word exciting and "life giving". I watch videos taken by precious souls seeking to fulfill God's great commission. They dance, they sing, and they praise the God of their salvation. Oh, if we in America could find God's revealed Word as the "dew of the Lord". We, in America, have lost this dependence upon a God who is the Father of the rain. We are unwilling to wait on His rain and when it comes, we glory not in it like the people of Malawi do.

God of all mercy and grace, grant to your precious sons and daughters in Malawi your life-giving rain. Shower them in Your grace like "mercy drops" falling from heaven. Shower them with Your Word making them "as a dew from the Lord" to all would hear of Your great name. Your will be done Lord and Your name be glorified. We wait on You Lord, for You are the Father of the rain and the Father of all the blessings we see. Thank You Lord for what You will do and how Your name will be spread by the spiritual rain that you will pour out upon them. You are good God either way! To You alone will we give our praise.

Micah 5:7
7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
Hosea 2:23
23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
Job 38:28
28 Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
Deuteronomy 32:2
2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
Job 29:23
23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
Psalm 72:6
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.

Are you like the morning dew? The bible says the people of Israel are like the morning dew having been dispersed among those on the earth bringing God's blessings upon all. All of mankind have been blessed through God's chosen people. The gospel has been brought to all mankind through them. The elect, the children of God, the spiritual Israel as Charles Spurgeon calls us; is also like the morning dew. He said:

"They are as the dew; for in a quiet, unobtrusive manner they refresh those around them. Silently but effectually they minister to the life, growth, and joy of those who dwell with them. Coming fresh from heaven, glistening like diamonds in the sun, gracious men and women attend to the feeble and insignificant till each blade of grass has its own drop of dew. Little as individuals, they are, when united, all-sufficient for the purposes of love which the Lord fulfills through them. Dew drops accomplish the refreshing of broad acres. Lord, make us like the dew!"

The bible says we are like the rain falling on wherever God wills it. The dew and these showers fall as God's blessings upon all men whether or not they desire them or not. They are not controlled by man nor or they given by man. They are a result of God's grace from His mighty power.

God's Spirit is poured out upon His people. We are but a small number compared to the many that are perishing in their sin. Christians are spread out all over the world. We are like the small amount of gold found in vast amounts of ore. We are like the wheat spread out amongst the tares. When Christ returns, we will be separated. We are being refined like Gold. We wait for the harvest of all saved souls when the bridegroom returns for His bride; the church. The bible tells us that we are "the salt of the earth" and "the seeds sown in the soil". When God blesses us, all men get blessed as well. We are like the dew of the Lord sent down by "the Father of the rain". We are born of His Spirit. We have been made pure by the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. We hold the key to the fountain of Living Water, Christ, that flows through us. Quietly this dew is spread over all. We are dependent only upon God. We no longer rely on anything from this world or man. We rely on God's divine grace alone to save us and sustain us. We have nothing else, but what the free grace of God's wills to give us each and every day. We seek to share that grace like a gentle morning rain with all those that will hear our message of mercy.

Man, like the grass of earth, grows with no help from us. If they flourish, they do so only by the grace of God. We are to be a blessing to those around us who are barren of any grace at all. We are to nourish them like the morning dew and a gentle rain that comes from God and not from us. All that we say and all that we do should be to only distill this grace to others. Our witness should be spread on others like the refreshing rain down on a dry and dying wasteland. All should be waiting and expecting that this dew should fall on them when we are blessed by the Father of the rain from whence it comes. Some are looking for it. Some don't know they need it. Some have given up it will ever come. We are to give them hope, for they wait for them that bring the morning rain with them. Unless this cooling rain falls upon them, the fire of God's wrath will come upon them and destroy them. We have been saved from this wrath by the dew that fell on us. Our love for Christ and our love for them, should cause us to share this hope of the coming rain. We are to be like the rain that falls on the newly mown grass. The grass desperately needs this nourishment that only heaven can provide. What blessings God can bestow on them if God's people Love, as He Loves, enough to share it.

If you are a child of God, your witness will fall on men like the morning rain and your words will descend on them like the morning dew nourishing their dry and weary land. If you are a child of God, you have just what they need to save them from their incurable condition. If you are a child of God, you will agonize over their suffering in sin. You will mourn their sin just as you did your own. If you are a child of God, His Love will live inside of you leaving you "no choice", but to provide God's cooling rain of forgiveness. If you are a child of God, you are living under His law of grace which will compel you to be "the salt" He intended you to be. The people of Malawi are waiting on the rain to come. The lost don't know where to find it. They don't know how to obtain it. Only God can give it. We are to shower down on all like the blessings of God coming down with the morning dew. Show God's love and grace. Shower all you meet like rain. When God's people are what they should be, the blessings of God fall on the wicked like gentle drops of rain or the morning dew. God bring rain to Malawi; and bring spiritual rain to shower down from heaven on a dry and thirsty people of America through those You have called to be Your own.

Waiting For The Rain

Fresh from heaven does the morning dew fall
Showers of blessings on those who he's called
Glistening like diamonds in the hot sun
Great blessings will fall on those who have none

We are waiting for the rain
From the One who was slain
Silently blessings will fall
Through the many He has called

We are waiting for the rain
From Him whom all blessings came
We are waiting for the rain
We are waiting

WaitingOn the Father of the rain

Like the seed that is sown into the ground
They will grow to feed the lost to be found
They shall be as morning dew from the Lord
From the begotten the blessings are poured

We don't know how it comes to fall on us
It does not wait on the son's of darkness
To those who are living in dependence
It comes in His grace and His forgiveness

We are waiting
Waiting on the Father of the rain
