The Empty Nest Means Rest
by Melissa Martin A male must have conceived the empty nest theory. Empty nest says women mourn and grieve when their children finally leave home. I do not think mothers mope around when the teens leave home. Moms sigh with relief and throw a party! Of course, children are missed but a peaceful house is welcomed. Stomach ulcers can finally heal. Parents can enjoy sex without considering procreation. Vacations in other countries become a reality. Mom can find spare change in her purse and set out bowls full of candy and still have some left. The telephone and the doorbell rarely ring. The car always has a full tank of gas. There is food in the refrigerator for more than a day. The water and electric bills are so low, parents wonder if the price is right. Now, husbands and wives can enjoy the golden years; prune juice every morning, false teeth in a cup beside the bed, fights over who gets the newspaper and the crossword puzzle first. What a life! We can't wait until the grandchildren are born. Melissa writes about the God and human connection and condition. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
