Emotional Cancer [Chronic Guilt]
by Melissa Martin Like flesh-eating bacteria, guilt ravishes my mind, devours my soul, cannibalizes my humanness. Malignant memories of lies and deceit rob a future of inner peace. Victims of my selfishness stalk my dreams as they cry and plead for mercy. Confession only brings so much relief as I plead no contest to my darkest deeds. I am a dead woman walking condemning myself as the clock ticks. Jury, judge, executioner, I sentence myself to the electric chair of unforgiveness. I choose to ask for forgiveness. I choose to forgive myself. I choose to make amends. I choose to let go of guilt. I choose a second chance. Melissa writes about the God and human connection and condition.
