My Church Proposal
by Dale Linton

It's possible God may be leading me to approach church leadership as to be a vessel used to promote unity in the body of Christ. This is a tall order and the Holy Spirit is the only, and I mean the only, one who can do this. So I must be able to present something to pastors and their administration that does not appear as if I'm trying to tell them something they do not know! How would the Lord have me to do this? First, my heart must be genuine in desiring to unite with them. Secondly, what I'm presenting must have worked in me to make me desire to unify with them. This opens doors to God igniting His spiritual creativity in the participants, such that there becomes a like minded atmosphere. Barriers to who is presenting and who is receiving begin to break down as roles are reversed and shared, leaving self focus on the side line. This atmosphere may be described scripturally as, "coming together in His name", and He is there!

So, one might ask, what has the power to create such unity in a human being or, a group of human beings? Here is a good analogy formed in a scenario that we may accept in the natural, exposing the spiritual parallel. Suppose someone asked how to make an automobile perform better. No matter what the specific performance request; achieving that performance request lies in the knowledge of knowing how the car is put together, or maybe better said, having a functional knowledge of its component parts. A human being is no different and as remedial as it might seem, the devil takes advantage of our lack of knowledge concerning our operational design. This knowledge has power in the continuity of the truth, that comes with the solution to how we are functionally designed . Not being aware of these truths invites the enemies concealment, as he operates most effectively in realms where we don't know, what it is we don't know. Spiritually speaking, we're ignorant of being ignorant, which is the worse type of ignorance. Through and by this strategic advantage the devil utilizes one of his most effective tools, which is division.

Our operational blueprint has been debated for centuries with no general consensus that the Christian community can agree on. It would appear that the collective stance across the landscape of Christianity is one that ignores examinations regarding the topic. Wouldn't it stand to reason that we should understand more about the component pieces God gave us, like a spirit, a heart, and a mind; especially if He tells us He has these same parts? There is overwhelming evidence that there are answers to what we seek lying within a foundational understanding of ourselves. Here is just one example: Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Do we really know what Jesus is cluing us in on?

I submit that there are essential truths we desperately need, that will unlock divisions in our fellowship, by simply asking the Lord for a deeper foundational understanding of how He made us. I believe what God would have us to hear and consider about our framework is vital to our Christian walk, both individually and more importantly, as a body.

I have a desire to see the body of Christ edified. Within the broad spectrum of edification I feel there exists a great need and opportunity for spiritual education at foundational levels. Please contact me about speaking at your church. Dale Linton 410-378-5035 or [email protected]
