be holy for i am holy
by philemon chiswamo The frog and water are inseparable. The frog lives in water; therefore, water is its greatest companion. There is a temptation that when a person goes to draw water to start listening to the frogs. The AIDS prevalent rate in most of the African cities and towns is higher than that in rural settings. Of course, an explanation for that can be that there are more people living in cities and towns than those living in rural and remote areas in the countryside of Africa. However, the proverb is centred on emphasizing the importance of dwelling on the majors and not majoring on the minors. Most people migrate to urban areas in search for better lifestyles which include: better cash, better living standards, better education, better jobs, and better goods and services. However, people have neglected the essentials and now dwelling much on the peripherals. They have forgotten to draw water (or may be they have drawn many containers of water) and they have started listening to and drawing frogs (which from an African perspective is an abomination). You will wonder that instead of people applying their effort to work; their strength is driven to matters of sexual relationships with people of the opposite sex. Some employers demand sex before they can offer you a job, sex is required to obtain a place at higher institutions of learning, sex is demanded for one to be promoted, sex is demanded for one to obtain excellent marks in an exam etc. As a matter of fact, sex has turned people especially young ladies into objects. So with the advent of AIDS many lives have continued to be lost because of sex. Let us pay heed to drawing water and not listening to and drawing city frogs.
