For the Love of Jesus (essay)
by Richard L. Provencher So many people wish they had the courage to do what they dreamed about. Something significant so they can be remembered, a testimony to their passing this way. Such a person is a young man--Matthew aged 24, whom my wife and I met this morning. He was on his way to fulfill a dream, except he was not doing it for ego, but in the name of Jesus, he believed in. And his saved earnings would pay for his needs along the way. Last year, he was working in the oil fields of Alberta when he met his visionto bicycle across Canada raising funds to support Dr. Jey and Lizy Jeyaseelan with their slum school projects, for kids. Slumdog is defined asunderdog from the slumsSlum + underdog = Slumdog. In 2005 the BBC estimated that there were 150,000 street children in just the city of Delhi alone. Of India's poor, over 40% are children. My wife and I along with our Pastor and his wife, prayed with Matt. That he would fulfill his journey, from Truro, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia. All funds collected along the way (www.cycleforindia.com) will be sent to his home churchWestside Victory in Calgary, Alberta. On a bicycle, tenting out on his journey, alone and all for the love of Jesus, this young man is determined to pedal one kilometer at a time until completion of his mission.
