The Unbelief of Assumption
by Steve Countryman
Assumption leads to unbelief. When you rationalize what you feel is truth verses what God says is truth then you are walking by assumption instead of walking by faith. That is what Martha did here. Because Jesus didn't come when the messenger found Him, she assumed Jesus didn't or wouldn't heal her brother. Though she knew who Jesus is and that Jesus healed people everywhere He went, she flat ignored her own two statements of faith and fell into unbelief of assumption.

1 Peter 4:1-6; 5:10 and Victory Over Sin, Part 2
by Karl Kemp
We discuss 1 Peter 4:6 here in Part 2. This verse has been interpreted quite a few different ways, but the verse is rather easy to understand once we see that the apostle Peter was speaking of spiritual death, not physical death. We also discuss 1 Peter 5:10. The translation of the NASB communicates the wrong idea that God will strengthen, etc. us "after [we] have suffered for a little while." God wants to strengthen us now!

1 Peter 4:1-6; 5:10 and Victory Over Sin, Part 1 (of 2 Parts)
by Karl Kemp
1 Peter 4:1-6 (along with 1 Peter 1:13-25 and 2:24, 25; and many other passages in the New Testament) demonstrate that Christians are called, enabled, required, and privileged to be dead to sin and to walk in the righteousness and holiness of God through the atoning death (and resurrection) of the Lord Jesus Christ. This includes the requirement (and privilege) to walk by the Spirit on a continuous basis, who enables us to live in accordance with the will of God.

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 11
by Karl Kemp
Much of the discussion here in Part 11 is devoted to God's creation of man ("Let Us [us] make man in Our [our] image" [Gen. 1:26]) and God's plans for man (believers), including His ultimate plans. We also discuss the original vegetarian diet for man and animals and the seventh day (Gen. 2:1-3).
-

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 9
by Karl Kemp
The first two-thirds of Part 9 are excerpts from Extended Note F, "The Use of 'Day' and the 'Seven Days' in the Creation Account of Genesis 1:1-2:3." Then we come to Gen. 1:7, 8, where God created the firmament and put the excess water on the earth above the firmament. That same water was undoubtedly poured out on the earth at the time of the flood of Noah's day.

You Gave Your Word!
by Steve Countryman
John 1:1-5 "1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 7
by Karl Kemp
We finish the study of the Hebrew verb "badal," which means to separate, to distinguish between, etc., which is quite important for the interpretation of Genesis 1:1-2:3. This verb is used five times in this passage. Then we come to a section titled, "A Discussion Regarding Symbolic/Spiritual Language in the Bible." And finally we begin to discuss God's removing the large amounts of excess water on the earth and putting it above the firmament He makes on the second day.

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 6
by Karl Kemp
We continue with the study on the symbolic/spiritual use of the words light, darkness, day, and night, which is very important to the interpretation of the creation account of Genesis 1:1-2:3. And we begin a study on the Hebrew verb "badal," "to separate," "to distinguish between," which is used five times in this passage. A proper understanding of this verb is quite important to the interpretation of this creation account.
-
Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 5
by Karl Kemp
Genesis 1:1 serves as a title for the creation account of Gen. 1:1-2:3. Genesis 1:1 does not speak of God creating all things out of nothing in the absolute beginning; the earth was created and Lucifer fell and was judged before Gen. 1:1. We also begin a study of the frequent and quite important symbolic use of the words "light" and "darkness" in the Bible here in Part 5.

Pember that was originally published in 1876 that deal with the probable origin of demons. Then we will start a rather thorough verse-by-verse study of Genesis 1:1-2:3.

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 3
by Karl Kemp

Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 2

-
Genesis 1:1-2:3; God Creates Our World, Part 1
by Karl Kemp
This account of God's creation of our world in Genesis 1:1-2:3 is quite important. For one thing, we must know that God (the God of the Bible) is the Creator of all that exists, including the universe, the earth, and man. We must know that we were created by God in His image, that we are fallen beings (see Genesis chapter 3 for a start), and that we are called to repent and submit to God's very generous plan of salvation.
